I felt so nostalgic watching it!

i remember this German team very well. They were coming in as World champions from Italia 90 and were an even stronger unit, now with a unified East and West which brought in the tremendous talent that is Matthias Sammer who would later be the best player of the 1996 euro in a libero role. Many break through players in this 92 german squad... sammer, effenberg, muller and a very young andy moller. If Lothar Matthaus was available for this 92 tournament it may have been more successful for them.

@Daniel Thor Copperfield Germany had Moeller; he's a better comparison to those players.

I thought Sweden were just a "surprise package" motivated nontechnically by their status as the home team. My assumption turned out to be completely wrong. They truly had great talents; perhaps one of the best squads in their football history. They proved it by remaining consistent two years later.

your assumption was completely right. The Swedish had a lousy team and they were a disgrace to anyone who enjoys football. I was so pleased to see them lose to Germany!

@@Donan777 Ludicrous, then why did they loose to Denmark in the finals? A Denmark that Sweden beat in the same tournament? Sweden also beat England in the group and played even against France. This game was a game between two teams that could have won the tournament just like Denmark did. And Germany lost 3-1 to the netherlands in the group... a netherlands that had a way more star-filled team then germany... and the netherlands lost to denmark in the semis. So clearly you don´t know what you´re talking about ^)^

@@henriklarsson5221 yes I know, what I´m talking about, mainly because I´ve watched the games you´ve mentioned live on TV back then and don´t have to apply pointless comparisons just like you. Even if you haven´t watched the game live, you can check out the stats from the 1st half at 6:03 of this vid. "Uneasy"? LOL, far from it! Just one point, why your comparisons are so childish and pointless: In the 1st 3 games, Germany played with Manfred Binz in their defense, which was a huge mistake and was the main reason, why Germany played so badly especially against the Nederlands. Germany played quite well against Denmark, too, but ran out of luck.

@@Donan777 yeah i watched them live(i live close to one of the stadiums were games was played), and yes Sweden underperformed in this game which the players have said in many interviews, bad match-day form. The almost identical team went ahead and took the bronze 94 in USA. Your view is clearly biased and emotional. My point was that all teams in the Semi´s could have won the Euro 92 finals. Germany had a great team, but so did Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands. But to say it was an easy win is just silly. Take a chill-pill mr.

Germany defeated and lost at same group stage against Holland 1-3,,they had some lucks to qualify to seconth round,then German defeated by Denmark in final 0-2
