I really love that Suzie is honest with what she doesn't like and her flaws. Most nail artists don't show you the mistakes but Suzie is a true teacher but also a student and she is learning with us

Yeah and Cristine from Simply Nailogical, too. They show us the mistakes they’ve made so we don’t make the mistakes they did and show us how everyone is not perfect. They both encourage me to do nails. Just subbed to Suzie today, already love her a lot though. ❤️

I’ve never found them to get in my way but I have worn them in differing shapes for a long time so I suppose I just adapt. Give it a go, maybe start with a shorter length and see how it feels as an experiment. It knit continental style and find the pointer finger nail on my right hand comes in useful for scootching just knitted stitches up the needle and that increases my speed!

Suzie, you need to be as encouraging to yourself as you are to us! We all are always learning. I'm a cosmetologist and just used some new products for the first time. It didn't come out the best because I was learning about those products that were a lot a bit different from what I'm used to. Don't worry about being perfect. I mean, we always want to do the best we can and if we make a mistake it's ok because a lesson comes out of it. Professional is not synonymous with perfect, we're only human. That's how our art gets it's character anyway! 🤗

To do the chain cable you keep having problems with, you want to keep the second pass of the cable from actually touching your initial elongated “s”. A cable of that type is knitted by passing one set of the stitches under the other. When you let the lines touch, you lose the depth the makes the cable look like it twists. Looking at charted cable knitting patterns may help since they have more contrast than the actual knitted items?

Could you please review the cornstarch nail technique that everyone on KZread is trying. I would like to know the pros, the cons, how long they last, and if it is a really good substitute for the acrylic dip powder.

Rhoda thats horrible. Id rather just not do my nails. Its super cringey to me. Most pros are going to say something similar.

Rhoda I believe it's not even close to the acrylic dip powder. Pro is the cost and you can diy. Cons if not sealed can lump and degrade in water. No strength. Won't last long. Ment as a temporary thing not a long term all the time thing. Who knows the effect of the corn starch with the polish and how it'll react in a few days time and so on. Too many unknowns for me. Hope this helped a bit.b

Rhoda would be interested in Suzi testing out a bunch of diy alternatives that are out there to see which are a big no and which are passable, for a quick fix or you need something done and can't fit in or get into a salon.

I just have to say that watching you has been therapy for me. I broke my arm, the humerous, a year ago and had to have a rod inserted. It has been slow healing and incredibly painful. Then I came across your tutorials, and as a self taught nail artist, I gave it up for a couple of years, I decided to try it again. You've given me the confidence to try the new nail designs and it helps with therapy. My motor skills have improved and the real healing has begun. Thank you for showing me how to be easier with myself and have fun learning the new and remembering the old.

Is the acrylic to make it look fuzzy? Could I attempt this by drawing with the gel, curing, and then a matte top coat or would that flatten it out?

Does it matter what brand of acrylic powder you use? And does the powder have an expire date? I have powder from when I took the course 14 years ago but since I just do gels now, I haven't touched my acrylic in years!😯. Maybe not 14.... but close 😀

The powder is causing the polish to swell when you "nuke" it distorting your design. My guess. (Isn't gel polish self leveling yo some extent as well?) I love that you are committed to perfecting your craft. I wish more techs were like that. You know we find it beautiful.
