Omg I used to love russian animations when I was a kid! I literally watched this movie two days ago.

Minus the part where Lisa is basically brown/black and called dirty and ugly, I love this version. Didn’t pick up on that as a kid but as an adult I cringe when they call her that. Other than that, the songs are the best! So happy it’s on KZread.

Yes! But I guess that shows the mentality people had back then?? As a kid I was really confused why thought she was ugly (because she actually was still pretty??) but back then I decided it was because her face didn't match her body, which i thought was odd... but I'm glad we all cringe at that! We recognize how awful that is! The music is my favorite. I wish there was a CD with the full songs, but its nowhere to be found. :(

When I was little I literally just thought the evil queen made her dirty so she looked like a beggar child and I always thought the King was so stupid for not recognizing his own child just because she looked dirty now lol Like she still has the same voice and is wearing the same clothes!

I think I did the cringing the worst when the brother is called her ugly I just about cried at that scene though

I love this movie! The nostalgia and the good old times were the best! I love Lisa's bravery and courage in this movie! She's willing to do what it takes to set her brothers free even if it means almost being burned to the stake

I've been thinking about that for over a decade now. Even drew characters in the Disney style while in art school, but a story like this they would have to constantly have to change it. Hand Christian Andersons stories, while beautifully written, leave too many questions to be asked

This is a film created by Russian film studio Mulitsovfilm or something, this in English dub! You can watch in English dub verison or watch the original Russian verison.

They were called "the bullets". I havent found any cds, and as far as i know- no tracks were officially released for this movie, and the company went out of business. :(

Hi Suzanne! The original Russian Animation came out in 1962. The english dialogue/music in this version was released in 1990.

Good question! He never calls her “Lisa” in person, because he doesn’t know her name. I think his solo song was more of a “heart song” addressed to her- and the lyricist chose to use her name. But in the actual dialogue- he never calls her Lisa. Just “my love, my bride, my queen,etc.”

The company that produced this went out of business, so I don't believe this is available anymore. That's why I had to re-edit the original footage with my crappy audio from my old VHS tape. Sorry. :( Maybe Ebay/Amazon?

So this was an english dub of a really old russian animation. The speaking is out loud, but the words don't sync up at all, so that is something to overlook. I think any thoughts that aren't spoken have an echoey quality to them (If I remember correctly).

Where is original music?what a shame

The intro music is wrong but OH MY GOD I watched this all the time as a kid on VHS! Holy shit! :D

It's a fairytale. no logic but indeed you have to know the complete story coz there are many parts cut off else it would have been too long to make.

The only problem I have with this is that the music tends to have a weird pitch once in a while, so it kinda ruins the music. Other than that, a great story.

I took the audio from my very worn out childhood tape- unfortunately I couldn't find the audio anywhere else, it's not available... so that's why it flickers like that. :(

There are different versions of this film, with different narrators and music. You might find the version you are looking for on another channel, i know i found a couple of different ones.

The songs are horrible. It's what ? disco ? The Russian originals are beautiful, more fitting to the tale. So much more emotional.
