There's more passion and emotion in Swamp Thing and Abigail's lovemaking sequence than in most sex scenes in Hollywood movies. The writing is beautiful and sincere, and the art is just mesmerizing. Timeless.

Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing run is just something entirely special. No other comic I’ve read has had this much themes and concepts of live, death, nature and love. The closest is Immortal Hulk with the body horror, but even then Swamp Thing honestly does it even better. (Immortal Hulk is great though) These Swamp Thing essays are some of your best comic videos. Can’t wait for the next one. Until then...HELLBOY and DAREDEVIL!

Yeah, do recall that Bissette and Totleban had just finished Down Amongst The Dead Men in Saga of the Swamp Thing Annual #2, which had a higher page count than the average issue. Nor was that the first time Nolan stepped in; he illustrated the pivotal issue "The Burial" which dealt with Swamp Thing burying Alec Holland and by extension the pre-Moore version of the Swamp Thing.

@@MattDraper Honestly, I only got DCU app because of the Vertigo shows i.e, Swamp Thing, Doom Patrol etc. But really all content that I have seen in my opinion is either good (Titans S1) or extremely top notch filmmaking (I'm looking at you Doom Patrol). What makes the Swamp Thing show so great is its performances, set design, costumes, writing, direction, but most importantly the tone of the show. It is one of the few Alan Moore inspired media I've seen that actually got his tone/quality of storytelling correct. It's really worth a watch, even if it's the only season we are ever going to get (HBO MAX PICK THIS SHOW UP AND PUT IT BACK INTO PRODUCTION PLEASE!)

Some thoughts: 1) I knew about Pogo's source material but never had proper context for it before now...thanks, Matt! A more recent series called Spencer And Locke by David Pepose used the source material of Calvin and Hobbes in a similar manner. 2) Was "Abandoned Houses" the first instance in which The Dreaming popped up in DC Comics? I know this story predates Gaiman's Sandman by four to five years, so... 3) Rite Of Spring remains another series highlight for me and I absolutely agree with Moore's thoughts on a relationship that actually works. You saw a glimpse of that again with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen before it devolved into a game of "I understood that reference." 4) I always thought of Nukeface as a bit of a tragic figure, cheerfully oblivious to the wanton destruction he was causing. And Part 2 was HEAVILY inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon and Stanley Kubrick's The Killing in terms of its POV hopping story.
