For the past 6 years, I have struggled with Addiction. Watching DMFD and Bluegabe reignited my love for the outdoors and fishing. It has been a pinnacle point in my sobriety and whenever I am having a rough day I throw on a couple of your videos. My recovery is centered around fishing and backpacking up in the Pacific Northwest. Now with Two and a Half years of sobriety, I have been able to hold down a great job and save up for a nice bass boat of my own. Take it out a few days a week after work and do a lot of Salmon Fishing on the Columbia River. The outdoors and your videos reigniting my passion have been a lifesaver. Just wanted to say thank you for all you do! You truly make a difference in the outdoor community and sure have in my life.

Been there boss. Addiction is a beast and ruins everything u truly love. Cool to see you have sobriety for a while now. It's amazing how good it feels to go out and fish and hunt and just enjoy the outdoors. Instead of being dope sick or high. We ca live the life u always wanted to..I'm happy for ya. The world meets no one half way if u want something go get it and never let anyone tell you can't do something..

I have been a fan of this channel for years I live in Barbados and I am a former Police Detective Sergeant . I just love the way you and your family has progressed over the years . Everytime I hear you reminisce about your Grandfather it gets me kind of emotional because it shows that you haven't forgotten your roots and that he has had a great effect on your life and upbringing. It also makes me reflect on my Grandaddy who has long passed he was a very loving man an old cane cutter and plantation worker who despite that was a very brilliant man actually a mathematical genius . Gosh I miss him and hope to see him one day in heaven. God bless you and your family Rob . Keep up the good work. Respect!!
Love this brother, very humble. These are the dinners that also take me back to the days of my childhood. My grandpa use to the same. True memories.
Today happens to be 2 years that my pawpaw passed and this video hit home for me. He was a military veteran and raised me to be the man I am today. I have many stories about him as you do Rob about your grandfather. Feel like I connected with today's video on a high level. Thank you for what you do Robert and your fellowship, also glad to see you back on the Ranch. God Bless
Start of 2020 I found this channel, my son calls it dinner dinner, and he is 3years old. We watch together and encourage one another to do the things we watch. Thank you for a family friendly channel. Thank you for keep on showing how men can live with family and friends. Love your channel and keep up with the great work.

Back to your roots! I’m related to Moses Barber, the pioneer who established a huge cattle operation in Florida before the civil war. Their feud with the Mizell family is legendary. Hats off to your grandpa.

I about fell off the chair when I heard you say your GrandDaddy was "Shotgun" Shiver! I grew up in the saddle on my GrandDaddy's place, Williamson Cattle Ranch. When I was in 1st & 2nd grade, we lived in town, right next to Shotgun :) Just three months ago, I rode by his old place with Iris. As you know, Iris was a good friend of Shotgun, and her stories of him & the old days are legendary!! You come from good tough stock. Thanks for sharing those memories!

Thank you for finally explaining to people why you wear a long sleeved shirt. It's hot, humid and muggy here in eastern virginia and not many people understand why I wear a long sleeved shirt in the summer time!
The way you sighted in the rifle at 4:32 is what we refer to in the military as "lolly popping". It's the quickest way to bore sight pretty much anything
Rob you are a true legend. Doing a video like this makes one really miss the older generation. It also makes you realize that we should get back to the basics and enjoy it. Thanks a mill
Loved the recent Alaska series but these are my favorite videos by you! That looks amazing and cooking it in the woods like you do is pure artistry. Keep them coming. Your awesome bud!!! Welcome home.
So stoked you were cooking a Cracker Classic! My uncle by marriage was a north FL cracker, and was so poor growing up in Perry that they couldn’t afford milk for cornflakes-they used CocaCola instead! All his life he used CocaCola on his cornflakes for breakfast, because he grew up a poor Cracker and proud of it.
@billwhite7099

Have you ever heard the story about the CocaCola millionaires in Quincy? At one time Quincy had the most millionaires per capita in the US. The banker noticed even when times were hard people would spend a nickel for a cold coke. So in like the 20s he told everyone to buy shares of CocaCola and never sell them. Well then did and with all the splits Coke has had those early $40 dollar shares are worth millions. If only your uncle lived in Quincy.
Salt 🧂 on a raw tomato 🍅 was a treat my Great Grandpa showed me when i was 8 yrs old. You made me flash back when did that. Thanks 😊 great video brother
Awesome video Rob! I love getting notifications when you post a new video! You never know what’s gonna happen with your video’s! The fact that you caught that armadillo out of no where was awesome! Thanks for the content man!
Robert one of the best part of this video is you having the younger boys at the ranch. I bet you are teaching them on how to live off grid and on swamp ranch. We have to take time out as us older guys and pass the fun times to this younger generation to keep the outdoors alive for the future. I love cooking outdoors like this as well. Be Bless and have a great week.
Rob you warm my heart..Old School is my History...You get it and I appreciate you...The land and what it produces was all they had back in the day...I miss it...Thank You...
Your one hell of a creative guy, who knows how to make something from nothing with a teaching behind the scene. Blessed be.
I still start chuckling after watching Rob holding a paper plate in one hand (cooking outdoors up in Alaska) and putting the dishes in it off of the fire 🔥. The plate began to burn, so he had to put it out...got another paper plate to remove more items and caught that plate on fire as well....lol 😆.

For 31 years most of my days have been spent centered around being outdoors. I've watched your channel a couple years and your brother's awhile to because you guys are great and your content is centered around what I enjoy. The reason for telling you all this is life changed and I haven't spent much time doing what I love in awhile and I got unsubbed somehow to you and just realized it today through a suggested video. Point is I just started get back outside at the same time as refinding your channel. Sorry for long comment I felt the synchronicity is important. Stay Up ⬆️ Brother.

Nice to hear your tributes to your grandfather, reflecting the moral/family value he had placed in you, something we don't hear often or enough nowadays. Great respect to you!
I missed this!!! Authentic DMFD watching as I type lol I’m so excited
Hey brother, your living the good life. Most people will totally lost if we have to go back to way things were. Did you know the roots on those Australian pines make some of the most crookedest walking canes. When a storm blows the big ones over get your bow saw and start cuttin'.. Dry the root, peel the bark when it starts cracking. Like I said some of the most unique, strong, walking canes.
Hey, where's Austin? We miss him! Your videos are not just inspiring, they're also a way for some of us who don't get to experience the outdoors to experience it through you.

Wow that’s awesome I never in my life seen someone stop and hop out of a vehicle and bare handed catch a armadillo!!!! Your awesome!!!!!🙏😎
I absolutely loved the content, the approach, the history, your memory of it. Oh yeah this is a favorite. I appreciate you!
Man O Man - what a great video. It reminds me of some similar times back in mid 70s in deep woods central Florida (all built up now - St Cloud/Kissimmee area) when I was in late teens/early twenties. I had the privilege of doing some of this with two old black men I used to work with. They would forage wild food exactly like this and serve it at our annual company picnic. I'll always cherish those memories- and the chow! Oh the memories! Thank you for this!!!!!
5 Generations in Florida I love seeing some good Ole swamp cabbage cooked up. There is so much to old Florida people don't know. Awesome video DMFD

Every once in a while I like to watch one of your episodes with the collection of swamp cabbage. I think it’s great that resource is out there. LaBelle just had a palm cabbage festival this weekend. Wish I could’ve gotten there. I’m guessing they do all kinds of meals with that item.
Thank you soo much for your videos and stories of Grand dad, it truly does bring back a ton of great memories with mine. I thank you sooo so much

When I was a big kid , I carried a case lockhorn pocket knife , but I kept my double bit axe razor sharp. Carried my salt n pepper , hooks lines , ammo , carbide light , ina homemade shoulder bag. I've ate lots of wild game and fish wild vegetables, sometimes get garden stuff from people who I knew well enough. To pay later , or help with chores around
Great site series! Real hunting, real food, close to nature. Well done! I just got an appetite...👌😆

The book "A Land Remebered" is a great read about the "cracker" culture. No fence laws in Georgia till '56, lots of wild cattle.

That’s funny what you said about the longsleeve shirts and sweat, that it keeps you cooler during the day. It works the other way around too. In finnish army, they teach the soldiers, that the sweat, and and dirt and the grease/fat what from your skin, helps to keep you warmer, in cold conditions.
