SVT Focus ARP Main Studs, Main Caps, and Crankshaft Installation

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I show how to install an ARP Main Stud kit (151-5404) in my 2004 SVT Focus. This stud kit works for SVT or regular Zetec engines. I also install new main bearings and the crankshaft. The process if fairly straight forward but you need to be clean and methodical. I hope this is helpful when you repair or build your own Focus!

    Can u tell me what engine code is that ? Or how I know it right engine for svt cuz another base engine is 2.0

  • @605BOLT

    @605BOLT

    2 жыл бұрын

    This is engine code 5. Basically, on your VIN there is a 5 in the engine code. It is for the SVT. The block is the same as a regular Zetec 2.0 Focus. The only difference is the oil squirters which are not necessary. The pistons are different and rods are different for an SVT. You can identify them by looking at them. Also, the cylinder head is visually different than the base engine. Hope this helps.

    @@albertromero7601 damn that would be badass. I think a lot of this is similar but I've never done one so I can't say for sure. Block and crank are the same. I know you'll be getting rods and pistons for that kind of power. You should record it and start a channel.

    Dude, never should you run a tap into a threaded hole. Buy a set of thread chasers and use them instead. If you have an issue with this info, please contact ARP and ask them what they think about it. Also, ARP recommends not bottoming out the studs but to pull back 1/2 a turn.

  • @605BOLT

    @605BOLT

    Two studded motors done the same way with no issues. A worn out cut tap isn't removing any material and with supply chain issues chasers weren't available. Could have used slitted head bolts but this worked fine. Gotta work with what you got. For a 150 horse focus motor with reused pistons I'll gamble it. 🍺

    @@605BOLT thanks for the reply man, I’m on the same boat as you. I’m building a forged piston and rod 1jz. And everyone is like “line hone the bore, or else it’ll blow up when using arp main studs” but those are the “do it by the book” kind of people 😂 I’ve rebuilt plenty of motors before but not one trying to chase power. In my mind I think it’ll be okay without a line hone. So I was gonna just send it 😂 anyway, now that you let me know. I’m definitely gonna send it.

    @Spooolin104 haha well this little shit focus won't make anywhere near the power you're after but my lightning makes about 400wheel and 500wheel torque and weighs about 5000lbs so that is a fair amount of power and plenty of weight to move around. No issues there since 2016. Along the lines of what you're saying I think there are a lot of guys who make shit way too complicated. Hell we got guys out here reusing main bearings on LS motors making 6-700 horse for long periods of time. Unless you're going way crazy on the power I think you'll be ok but definitely run it by your machine shop or someone else who has built the same kind of motor you have. I'm with you though. I'd send it.

    @@605BOLT for sure man, especially to be living in your truck since 2016. I’d say ill be fine. And I think the same thing, I get it if you’re trying to blueprint an engine, and want it to last forever or if you’re engine is worth a lot of money. Then by all means measure every clearance. But for the normal guy like me and you, we’ll be okay. And I’m gonna install them and make sure i don’t feel the crank binding when I turn it. If it doesn’t bind, I’m sending it 😂
