SVG Is The Real Deal! | AJ Robbed Of A Win

Ойын-сауық

A fairly successful weekend in Nashville for Kaulig that could have been even more successful if it weren't for some bad mistakes and SVG... it's time to admit he is the real deal!

The other thing people need to remember with SVG, is that he’s driving a car with a completely different rear end to anything he’s ever driven in his career, so he’s still learning how it moves underneath him etc. Once he’s in the Cup car, he’ll feel more confident & comfortable with how that car drives so he should be even better. 😊

Makes a lot of sense to me. He has his work cut out for him with Kaulig cars though as they tend to unload poorly and quality not great.

@@KauligNation yeah he’s had to really work in the cars during the race to get them to a point where he can drive them properly and move forward. The problem is it takes them way too long to get there and he’s too far back to make a real impact.

Correct. AJ was robbed and SVG is the real deal. SVG is still only in his learning phase too. He’s only gonna get better. 😊

Track time is everything. Ryan and I discussed the other day how important it was for him to be able to communicate the changes they need to make mid race. Something it takes drivers years to get down and he’s already getting better at it.

The best guy SVG could be paired with right now in all of NASCAR is AJ for experience and transitional reasons.

SVG has done this all year. It’s just symptomatic of no prior experience and limited practice. He out qualified the 88 who is in similar circumstances.

Hey guys, hope you’re having a good week. First AJ had every right to be furious with his team, his comments were right on target. Next, I haven’t heard or seen anything on this idea, but I’d like Justin Marks to hire Rodney Childers and give him a leadership role, if we end up with a Trackhouse/Kaulig teaming in 25 (see other post) that could help both teams. Also, would NASCAR allow TH to buy a couple of Supercar Cars to practice with? I know they can’t practice with the Cup or Xfinity cars anymore but does that mean they can’t buy a non-NASCAR certified car and work on their race craft? Of course I’m thinking SVG on ovals here, but it wouldn’t hurt some of the others to learn from SVG and AJ on how to get around the road courses. Just wondering….

Unfortunately Nascar had very strict testing rules. Cup drivers can not practice on any Nascar sanctioned track and they have rules on cars as well but I’m not as familiar with those. Only way for SVG to get better is with more seat time. Running other series would be okay though. CARS tour ad an example would be okay

Chris Rice has been pretty adamant that there will be no merger and as it stands now they don’t even have an official alliance they just work together in some areas. I think it’s about time they at least make an official alliance. Sounds like Kaulig is considering moving AJ back to cup and possibly pursuing Eckes according to Bob Pockrass.

Still just really chuffed at how well the US fans have taken to SVG. Kinda akin to Grosjean and Bordais even Jan Magnussen and Bergmeister (gobshite, still haven't forgiven him for 2009 Laguna Seca lol) way back when - they were more than 'just racers' to many of us before they arrived in the US and it's been good to see them earn their stars n' stripes, as it were.

@@ryanyount3250 I've been thinking about that, spoke to a colleague that races amateur touring cars (I'm Danish, he's a Brit - figured there may be a difference). My opinion on the lack of popularity is likely skewed but being honest - we do not appreciate the concept of 'rubbing is racing' in the same way in *anything* but Touring Cars. Since I was a teenager (I'm 42..) the 'naming all the sponsors' and being effectively a brand spokesman is not something we like, as fans, at all.. We have shown love to those who are people not pawns. We've been sent a lot of pawns and with the time they've been given to introduce themselves to us, with a mic, they've spent commercialising. Normal and accepted in the US, not outside it where it's the sport and not the business that we watch for. We like the personal stories, the driver to talk about themselves, not use the time to promote products and a little self deprecation always helps a bit more than it should. There may well have been drivers who were talented and great people but they didn't (for the most part) show us the second part in the brief time they had to introduce themselves - they always picked the commercial side and we, as mentioned, don't appreciate that the same way US fans have become accustomed to it. It's often the person we support more than a team, we just support that team because that's who 'he' is racing for. The 'of the drivers in my branded car, who do I like'. On top of that there's also an element that to be entirely honest - a lot of series we watch just to watch and enjoy the racing - we don't care about *any* of the drivers but are just watching to enjoy the racing - their nationality doesn't really matter - it's car 46 or car 15 with 3 drivers in it.. US drivers get plenty of love in the various GT/WEC series whenever they come to town. I guess professionalism is seen differently in the two places, the US is a little more chilled in terms of fanbase - they're incredibly passionate (more so than many of us) about their drivers and teams but they aren't held to as high a standard as they are here. Plenty of European drivers have made the route the other way and pretending talent isn't a factor is also a little dishonest, as would pretending money has nothing to do with it - so I appreciate it works both ways. Alexander Rossi wasn't world class, Conor Daly, Ferrucci - I mean ok we got JJ in the Garage 56 at LeMans but that's sort of an exhibition thing. Dempsey had a leg up but come on - it ain't as easy as you think to be the cute doctor from tv that the wife likes and then be taken seriously amongst our heroes - and get results. But because he was somebody when he arrived he wasn't busy selling us his sponsors - we got to hear more out of him than 'my team, my sponsors, my manufacturer, my fuel supplier'. We we getting to know who he was, not who paid him. So an American in a Porsche will always get some love if they do well, we know that ain't an easy porker to wrangle. If nothing else, it may speak more to what a fan thinks than any 'fact of the matter' but that's my few -cents- dollars on the subject.
