I think the black swan will always be Svetlana’s unmatched best role. She radiates everything a black swan ought to be. Look at the subtle way she used her neck, shoulder, and head to act out a character who is in high confidence of her feminine sexuality mixed with playfulness and even occasional scorn as she interacts with the prince. Other dancers may top her here and there in certain aspects of ballet techniques but literally NO ONE interprets the black Swan better than her. She IS the Black Swan.

Undeniably utterly magnificent unmatched. Svetlana is the black and white swan always and forever. Natalia osipova is also magnificent in her own right and hard to match but Svetlana is my favorite

I like these versions where Rothbart plays a larger role in Odile's Black Swan Dance. Separating the prince from her. Or how she dances over to him to whisper and plot. It seems like they miss out on vital storytelling when they don't have Rothbart getting very involved.

I agree, Rothbart is an important part in the story and it makes it less interesting when they leave him out.

Stephanie-Marie Bates I’ve seen many versions where she dances over to him to whisper and plot, but this is the first version I’ve seen where Rothbart has a dancing interlude (10:28) with music that’s usually cut out.

I'm the opposite, i don’t love that Rothbart is interfering so much here. I guess my issue is that the Black Swan's role is one of seduction and distraction, and Siegfried gets totally caught up in it, but it’s hard to imagine that when she keeps going over to talk to her dad every few minutes.

@Clarissa Leung , For Marianela Nunez's, don't know what VA she did, the coda has the back hop which is rare , although she only did 4 hops, still counts, nowadays it normally replaced by pique turns.

@Clarissa Leung , about Natalia Osipova's VA , she did very well, that is a POB version, too bad it doesn't have coda in the clip. hope , someone watched the show to tell us. About the Sylvie Guillem comment, I was only speaking to the specific clip in the link, due to SZ was a guest star in POB, she was dancing with POB style and choreo (except VA is not quite) , I think that is a fair comparison. I have no intention to remark who is better in ballet dance wise.

Breathtaking interpretation!❤️ She is really the Black Swan. And I pride myself of having enjoyed many. My other choice of perfection, Josefina Mendez, Prima Ballerina at the Cuban National Ballet. I was a student at Alicia Alonso's Ballet School many years ago. I have never known another ballerina that could stand firmly in one toe for such a long time than Josefina! This interpretation now... Awesomely beautiful!!💎❤️🙏

Bighin GIULIO RENZO BIGHIN 😊😊😊😊😊
