    I had a feeling the tip would snap, sadly that's the downfall of a clip point. But genuinely impressed how it handled the car door and El Bricko. It lasted longer than I would have expected. Makes us all a little more humble that we have access to micrata and G10 for handles nowadays. Wood just can't handle the abuse! Another awesome video brother!

    They need to update this knife with a spear point blade, get rid of the handguard, & add G-10 or micarta scales with fasteners that can be tightened or loosened whenever necessary. But that would basically be an ESEE Junglas with L6 sawmill steel which is better than 1095.

  • @Ve-suvius

    @Ve-suvius

    Жыл бұрын

    @@PerceptionVsReality333 Junglas tip is weaker than of the Tempsky Bowie. The Junglas has a delicate tip. Bowie tips are shaped in clip style for a reason. Not to do destruction tests, but to engage in combat. And for chopping... Get an axe. Bowie's or nearly all other knives don't even come close to axe chopping.. See Ben Scott's video's. Axes power through wood like they are nothing.

    @@Ve-suvius I know that, that's why I always have a Estwing 16" camp axe. Chopping wood with a knife is a terrible idea I don't know who came up with that idea.

    They r historically accurate reproductions of a NZ Bowie from the 1860s, hence the wood handle. Preformed impressively, I've always loved mine too. Svord makes excellent fillet knives as well. Big thanks to Alex from Graz and to Joe X, *this* was what I'd been waiting for!!😃

    A few days ago I thought: The Svörd would be interesting for Joe. It is a thick and robust blade which should survive a lot of abuse. I wonder that the tip broke because I thought it would be in the category indestructible (cause of its thickness). I thought it would perform even better. The Svörd is also an expensive knife. I think you show us it is not the secret tip some said. I think the Ares performed better. Thanks my friend for the amazing test.

    @@joexDistal Taper would do better have a look at swords with distal Taper they bend rather than snap. I remember an engineer explained it if the steel is constant thickness it concentrates all the force at the bend point. A tapered piece of steel under a bending stress the force is spread over the length of the piece of steel. I wish I could find the article.

    People underestimate traditional old carbon steels like this 15n20 and they have to have the latest and greatest version of a powdered super steel which we have all seen fail much sooner on this channel there is definitely something to the old carbon steels when it comes to sheer strength and durability I love my Svord knives they take a screaming sharp edge and hold it pretty well under hard use too! They make a machete that is super thin and strong thing chops better than my $400+ Bark Rivers hard woods it doesn't care throws chips like an axe!

    Das ist einfach ein geiles Bowie. Hatte ich auch mal und habe es meinem Neffen geschenkt. Er liebt es . Als Kampfmesser ein Brummer...ich meine, wenn der Gegner diesen Prügel auch nur einmal auf seinem Armknochen oder Schlüsselbein einschlagen spürt und die Wucht, die dahinter ist, ist der Fight vorüber. Das Design ist mMn über jeden Zweifel erhaben...kein Schickimicky...funzt einfach und erledigt seinen Job. Ich hatte es seiner Zeit für 170 Euro erstanden und eine kurze Vorstellung auf Video gemacht. Dein Video ist natürlich nochmal ne ganz andere Hausnummer. Klasse gemacht! Gruß nach Österreich🏔⛰

    NZ does stand for New Zealand, Mr Baker does have a very good tempering process, his usual model is 7mm and is L6 steel, the colours are from heat treatment not welding marks. The knife is based very loosely (i.e. not very accurate) on the original model that Von tempskey had made for his Ranger troops, most of the originals lost their points and were reground into spear points which is a lot stronger. The knife was held in the offhand downwards with the spine facing the enemy to block club attacks and then stab downwards if the revolver did not finish off the enemy (often did not as they were notoriously unreliable). The knife was used for everything by his Rangers, chopping through bush, chopping firewood, cutting food, slicing bread and slicing tobacco.

    Hi Joex ! Yes this knife is made in New Zealand, I got rid of it for two things , first it's a very heavy peace of steel and second it's very ugly for a knife they didn't put enough effort in to the design, material and definition feels like a heavy bar with the edge. I'm sure hummer can do better job by braking bricks. New Zealand isn't still occupied by the British, British colony if I'm not wrong like Norfolk Islands in Argentina ?
