Thank you for this incredible save! I am a 68-year-old grandmother and I fixed this leak exactly as you explained. A second hose clamp around the large rubber fitting that attaches the drain hose to the weep hole would be recommended!

Thank you! We love this car, but it's been an ongoing issue. We never thought it could actually be a design flaw - which it is. I'm finding MANY XL-7 owners of 2007 & 2008 models with the same problem. My husband uses this for his part-time Uber driving. It's always panic when it rains. Now if I could just get my husband to commit to doing this. He watched and knows he can follow your easy instructions. It's just always a job to get him to do anything. :P Such a beautiful car! I imagine he will eventually get tired of cleaning up the flooding.

Thank you for this video, I have the same problem in my 2007. I was told to take it to a car wash and see what happens. If it was the sunroof. Sat in the car to see and I got soak and wet! 😂 Came through the lights, on the sides, and also wetting the console. I kept looking for answers and finally I found your video! Thanks again!

This happened to me & I wasn't able to stop the automatic drive-thru/tell anyone to stop it. It poured down the inside of the instrument panel. Scared the electrical system would be shot..luckily that didn't happen, tho it took several towels to dry things so I could drive the 50 mi back home. Suzuki should have a class-action filed against them, for not doing a recall on this (very)frequent problem!!

Omg! I’ve been searching for the reason why my sunroof is leaking, and this is the only video that even alluded to the sunroof drain hose not being connected and I was able to see through my headliner that in fact, one of the hoses is completely disconnected so hopefully this will solve my leaking sunroof problem! Thank you, thank you thank you so much for posting this video 🎉😊

Bingo, thanks! Having the same issue with my wife's 2008 XL7. Temporarily, we put a tarp over the top of the car to keep the water off completely, and after sucking all the standing water out, I've been running a dehumidifier with fans for the last three weeks or so to get the residual moisture out. Everything is finally dry inside again. I know once I pull those pillar covers off, I'll have to spray everything down with bleach to kill off any mold that's started to develop. Another wonderful design flaw!

This is awesome. Same problem with same vehicle for almost a year. I thought I was alone and never had anyone check for this since I thought I would have to pay big money.

It would be big money! I took mine to the Suzuki dealer & a kindly gentleman told be b4 even entering the shop, that it would be $185. just to diagnose the problem (with so many of this same problem, seems it should be a factory recall, to me!) That's when I got black Gorilla tape & sealed the sunroof to the top. It's been several yrs & I was worried abt replacing the tape (I'm 77 yrs old & it was hard to tape it, just a couple of yrs ago!) This info is a God-send!

When you said "I'm a be careful around that airbag" then cut scene i was expecting you to come back on all covered in white dust hands flailing yelling "OMG CALL 911!" Cuz the airbag went off lol

I couldn't find a fix for this problem, so I ended up taping around edges of sunroof w/Black Gorilla Tape. ~Luckily my car is black & it can't be seen, but I'm looking fwd to repairing it & using my sunroof! ~My Sincere Thx!

2008 Suzuki xl7 here too ty very much i am going to go searching for hose clamps now lol i am hoping this is the problem with mine.

Having the exact same problem with the exact same car. After these storms pass I'll take a look. Garage wants $200 to fix!!

I think the cost of the hose clamps would be about $3. If you can, save the $200 and go to a nice dinner and a movie. It will take you about an hour to do the job yourself.

I replaced the drain line with silicon tubing. Got tired of the lines separating. Those weep holes get plugged with debris all the time. The main problem is the front of the seal doesn't sit flush with the roof and water pours in overwhelming the drain system.

i am having the same problem. I thought the problem was the door seal....thank you so much.

When I'm doing my drain holes to clean them I pour Drano in the holes and let it sit there for about 5 minutes and then pour water down in the holes and that will clear up all the trash or settlement from the rain

Nice work. What have you done about the mold and water damage on the headliner and air bags?

Kane Clevenger I didn’t do much with the mildew and there wasn’t much water damage. I vacuumed the car as best I could and left it open for a couple days. Here in California, it’s pretty dry so I didn’t develop any long term issues.

Which tools did you used for take off those 2 pilar ???

@@khanz3467 he said at the beginning just a small bolt and a small flat head screwdriver to take off the panel. the other stuff is probably just screws too

May not be the drains causing the main problem for water getting into car. Could be the sunroof does not close flush with the roof. ANYONE HAVE OR EVER FIX A PROBLEM LIKE THIS? It's not the 4 mounting screws needing adjustment, the glass is already adjusted as far up as it can go. Thank you.

This car is the biggest piece of shit I have ever owned. Nothing but problems. No wonder Suzuki no longer sells cars in the USA.
