The thing I love about Suzuki is it’s simple, all the electronics and aids you get on other bikes you either don’t need them and most people don’t use them, it’s just more things to go wrong.

I've had this bike for 3 years. It is hands down thee best bike i've ever owned and i've owned a lot. I like it better than the Gixxer, to be honest. Simply because I've gotten older and prefer the more comfortable riding position, yet still looks like a Sport bike, more than a touring bike. This bike is absolutely amazing. It does everything you want it to do with ease. It is so easy to ride for a 1k liter bike with minimal input for even beginner riders. It is probably the only liter bike i would suggest to a good responsible beginner rider. LOVE THIS BIKE! Excellent review of her sir! Be safe out there!

This is exactly why I'm planning to buy one in the next year. My last bike was a CBR 1000RR and even tho that is one of the more comfortable liter super sports, it's still a super sport and my back just couldn't take it anymore. After only 30 min, i would start to feel it in my back which never used to happen so am really happy Suzuki repurposed a tried and true motor into a sport tourer that still looks like a sport bike.

I believe one reason for the single dipped headlight is that at night, oncoming traffic only see one light, and is therefore easier to conclude that you are a motorcycle, whereas two dipped headlights could look like a car that is far away, rather than the reality that it is a bike that is relatively close, the oncoming traffic may in this scenario be tempted to make a right turn when it is not safe to do so.

A single white light gives no indication of position or speed, which is why I prefer having the orange signal lights on all the time to give that reference, as on many Hondas. This one has two additional white running lights which is better than nothing. I modified my FZ6 to have both headlights on for low beams to make it look symmetrical and give more light.

I have a 2018 version I have owned for a couple of years now. A couple if FYI's... There are multiple soft tank bags available utiizing hooks underneath the rear pillion. I have found when touring, I can added both of them plus a rear back on top and have quite a bit of capacity. The next item is the front windscreen. The one in the video is a touring version but in US spec the standard is lower and very much appears to look like a sport bike's. As far as the headlights, I think he was incredibly charitable on the headlights. One word, they STINK! I have upgraded mine to Sylvania's Ultra's and they are tollerable. Lastly and I think this needs to be touched on more, this bike is fast and handles well. Not a perfect track weapon but one that gets you 90% of the way there but also is good on the street. Also, the suspension is a fully adjuster KYB wth inverted forks.

Excellent TMF review, as always. I own a 2019 version and it's been fantastic. I have the same screen, and can confirm it is definitely the touring screen. The bike has a sight-screen and not a dipstick. All reviews I've seen refer to lack of luggage options. In fact, I managed to get a Givi rack and top box fitted by my dealer. Transforms the bike into a brilliant solo tourer and is used daily for my 22000 miles p. a. commute. An absolute belter of a bike.

I'd say the complaint about luggage options mostly had to do with getting hard bags for the sides. One can get racks and kits for it (most notably Ventura?), but there's just not a lot and what's there requires a 20-years-in-the-past amount of bracketry. Others, notably Kawasaki, have (finally!) been designing subframes for luggage rather than relying on aftermarket engineering. A dealer can get and install anything a customer can. It would be nice for Suzuki to offer options (on other bikes than Stroms) from the factory.

There is plenty of aftermarket options for touring bags. SW Motech make soft panniers to fit this bike, complete with mounting hardware and easily removed brackets. I currently use a Nelson Rigg bag on the rear and it works a treat. The traction controls on this bike come with 4 settings...3 is rain/wet, 2 is Street, 1 is Track and there is OFF (ride it as you dare). Andy...there is a sight glass to check the oil level.

@@mickangel3945 It might be. My FZ6 used two H4 bulbs which have both high and low filaments each, but only the low of one connected and the high of the other. It was just a matter of getting the low filament bulb connector on the high beam to have both running low beam. However, BE SURE to use a relay that disables it when the high beam is on as you aren't supposed to run both filaments at the same time for more than a moment. The light pattern looked exactly as it should. Double-check but I believe this bike also uses the same bulb for both high and low, so it could well be the same idea.

I watched the entire review, I too have a GSX-S1000F in white ('18 model). I agree with everything you said. One correction, the bike does indeed have a sight glass window for the oil level, it's rather hidden below the clutch housing (you can see a small glimpse of it at 21:46 in the video).

I'm with you on this Andy as I think it looks great. It could be a real contender against the Ninja 1000sx but without adequate Pillion and Pannier capabilites it can't really be compared, which is a real shame. If it had a QS/Blipper, lean sensitive electronics and cruise control then I'd seriously think about spending my hard earned pennies on one. It's now £10.8k on Suzuki's website so very close in price to the Ninja. Hopefully Suzuki will update this model in future.

The big plus for me on this bike is the fairing. I could have used one like this when I used to ride around London and outside on a naked bike all-year around. There are so few bikes with fairings and with the U.K. weather, it must make a big difference to your riding comfort. i want to try one.

Suzuki usually equals good engine and gearbox and comfortable riding positions but older design and hard seats. Older tech is a plus for me too. The dash is the exact same as the SV which is another low tech but big fun, cheap bike. There was a headlight hack for the old yamaha fazer to get both lights on at once, so I'd be surprised if there wasn't one for the suzuki. Excellent, unbiased reviews as always Andy.

Cracking review mate! I’ve had one of these in the Phantom colour scheme for 3 years. You’ve definitely got a touring screen on there so the delivery guy isn’t that in the know. The standard fairing seems to push the rain strait into my visor although I am a 6ft plus bloke. I’m coming to the end of my pcp deal and looking at the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX but it’s far less bad ass than the GSXS (especially in the matt black colour scheme). I absolutely love the sound of the engine on this bike. It’s genuinely awesome! It’s also faster than the 1000SX and has about 10bhp more. Genuinely considering sticking with the GSXS, albeit a newer one but they’ve just released an updated naked version so I guess that the updated faired version isn’t too far away. If that is the case, and it’s still value for money, then I’m sticking with the GSXS as it’s such a fun and raucous blast! Having said that. I’d be interested in your opinion on the both as motorbikes, not as a confit sports bike v a sports tourer as Suzuki never intended this to be a tourer.

If your going touring then buy the GSXF 1250 ( newer bandit basically) that's suzuki's proper tourer. Under seat storage review is a great bit to do in a video but may i suggest you use a disc lock for the size comparison as that's all that would generally go in there for most riders.

The thing that surprises me is that bike was excellent two up and luggage was either provided or added, can’t remember which. Wonder why Suzuki have opted to go more sports than tourer now?
