Gotta love it when dudes on supersports and superbikes blow by you right before the braking zone only to brake way too early anyway.

Bought my gsx 8s from Brad at powerslide last year. Great dealership and a decent bloke. Look forward to seeing the next episode.

Great riding mate. Had to laugh when that guy blew past you and slammed on the brakes for the next corner, and you didn't even let off the throttle, went right past him and then found your braking marker.

3:25 haha reminds me of doing track days having big bikes come flying past and then repassing them still on the gas as they are braking. Great riding Tim!

Loving this! I raced in the Minitwins last year and am now on a mission to break into the 1:39's at Cadwell as a novice. It'll be interesting to see what parts make the biggest improvements. If you're adding Quick action throttle, slicks, rear sets etc it'd be great to get your feedback on the impact on the track

I’m guessing suspension for obvious reasons, combined with rear sets will give the biggest improvement. It can’t be very confidence inspiring grinding your boots every corner….Then ABS delete as I’m sure that will begin to interfere more when he starts pushing that lap record.

82.9PS @8500.rpm and 7.95kg-m @6800rpm, I never ride this 8R before, but when I saw the data of the bike, I think it would be very a fun bike on the mountain road.

Great vid. It's a really fun package with so much potential. Although it does take a bit of time, effort & money to unlock it. Will look great with clip-ons & rearsets too. A mapped full Akra system & removing the airbox foam filter cover & snorkels tubes too can apparently give it +10bhp & 10 lbs/ft according to various tuner vids on KZread. Definitely looking forward to the next episode.

Bike looks great, nearly bought this model last year but ended up getting the KTM instead, however I`m still thinking about getting the GSX-8s black.

It is a shockingly good bike. However, I ended up buying a Yamaha XSR900 just because dealerships within 150 miles of me were all asking about $12,000 out the door. My gently used XSR900 with 500 miles on it cost $9300 OTD including tax.

@@sugarrfree I didn't buy from a dealership. I bought it from a guy who already owned five motorcycles (and two ATVs). Literally, a garage full of bikes and toys. You should have seen this bike; in two years it had been ridden 500 miles. It was completely stock. There's a fair number of bikes like these that are owned by white-collar professionals. Low miles, cheapish, but of course you do have to have the cash on hand.

Exactly why i went racing and skipped track days...hate to agree with Glenn Irwin(cannot stand the man),but he said the exact same thing at the NW200 about a certain track day bod!

So the lesson is, if you want a track bike buy an old GSXR, because you'll have to change everything on an 8R.

Is modern ABS that intrusive? when you said you felt ABS interference you were going very slow and hardly touched the brakes. I'm used to not having it at all but have had it on old cars and usually you wouldn't notice it until needed or braking very hard for a bend etc. Also the pegs don't seem to be the issue with scraping your foot, it is your foot angle as well as the fact you pretty much take it off the peg when forcing your knee out, probably due to those high clip-ons effecting your body position in the bends.

Good news for us mere mortals who's bikes have jobs to do off track. No 200bhp+. cornering/braking talent and fried edges on the rear tyre is all good

if it's a real track bike you'd put a GSXR front end on it, that's what sv650 guys did

  • @sugarandt

No one noticed, not even the rider, that he was riding around with traction control on setting 2 which is extremely intrusive. Why would he have tc on at all. TC light flashing @ 3:19 for instance, not putting power to the ground, pretty ridiculous for trying to set a record.
