Suzuki GSX-8R - more joy for less money.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Suzuki is taking its new mid-range parallel-twin motor as far as it can and the result is the new 8R. Let’s see if it’s any good.

Great to see bike makers building affordable machines without endless electronics and pointless gizmos, more of this please!

Ha! Despite my 'budge bike' comment above, I agree that it's good that there are accessible bikes out there. So much is made of the expensive high end bikes (Ducati, BMW, KTM), but I'm certainly one who can't afford 'em, and frankly can't use to their potential.

This bike won MCN’s middleweight “sport” bike test beating out more hardcore/expensive bikes like the R7, ZX-4RR, Daytona 660, and RS660. Suzuki got it right, despite the haters.

On the contrary - watching this channel keeps his spirit alive! A great review with another great journalist. This was the whole point imo and why we watch this channel anyway. Keep riding.

The front fork is different. They went from kayabas to slightly more fancy showas(or something)

Thank you, Donovan, another great review. I think Suzuki are building the right bikes for the everyday rider. I'm a bit partial to the blue one.

I think it’s a very good looking bike. I am a Triumph fan but I would consider this over the new 660’s. I don’t plan on selling my speed triple anytime soon but perhaps someday 😅

Oh I think your Speed Triple, and the Street Triple, are in a whole different class. This bike, while it satisfies basic riding needs, does not flip the 'lust button' for me. While well done for what it is, it's budget, like most of this crop. (Possible sign of the sport's decline?)

@@MadChalet the 660 is the new motor from triumph in the tiger sport and trident, the competitors for this Suzuki.

That yellow one looks pretty good. But it needs proper, low clip-ons and higher pegs for the "R" designation, they should've called this one the GSX-8F instead.

It’s not a GSX-R800. It’s a GSX-8R, just like a Hayabusa is a GSX-1300R. GS, GSX and GSX-S have always been street model designations, not competition like GSX-R is specifically for.

@@mindspinn311 I know it's not a GSX-R, but talking about the Hayabusa, having owned one, I can say that the riding position was way sportier (worthy of the "R") than this stupid-looking upright one. I for one need a leant-forward riding position. So I still maintain that they should have called it the GSX-8F, just like the old GSX-750F Katana, which I consider to be its spiritual predecessor.

Fatter torque than either. RS660 higher top end. R7 is sort of like the 8R torque curve but less of it. With tuning, guys in the States have gotten 90 hp and 65 ft-lb at the wheel. That's some serious recovery after the regs stuffed it up.

I testrode this bike and loved it. The riding position is so great not much lending forward its more like a sportstourer and thats why i like it. There are not many or even one model out there at this price of the sporttourer bikes. It handles great and tip in great in corners. Its so roomy. Im 6’2 and it not feel cramped at all. But there is one downside and its the look of the front with thoose headlights. Dont like it. Please Suzuki look at Kawazaki or Triumph Daytona make a front like theese brands or Aprilia. You have the best bike out there at this price just make another front and im home. Liked this bike over the Daytona who is more cramped and lending forward riding position. If you visually dont like the looks in this case the front you dont buy it. First you buy with your eyes.

So, don't buy it if the headlights are that important to you. I think it looks great although there might be better looking bikes out there.

But the important question: Do those lights function well after dark? No one seems to understand lights are for seeing after dark. If they aren't for seeing after dark, get some women's cosmetics and put mascara and shadow around them.
