Suzuki DRZ 400 Only Runs With The Choke On

This is a super common issue with a lot of different bikes. The simplest way to avoid this is to ride your bike and don’t let it sit for more than a month. If that’s not an option you need to fully get the gas out of the carburetor and you can do that by turning the petcock off and running the bike until it dies.

Best DRZ carb video I've seen, TY. A video on setting the screw and fine-tuning adjustments would be awesome.

Super video, really useful to be able to watch, pause, learn etc. Quick question... The 4 screws that hold the float bowl on... I know you used an impact driver on those, but what bit did you use on it? I think they are a JIS headed screw in those (as opposed to Phillips head)? Or did you you just use a standard Phillips driver, live a number 2? Keen to use the correct bit for it, as I guess once it is rounded off - you are in a world of pain!

I used a Phillips head. Not sure if they're JIS or not , I also have a bunch of new ones and a lot of the time I end up replacing them.

I cleaned out the carb really good in all the passages and I'm still having the same problem. Anyone have any tips?

Do it again, without an ultrasonic cleaner it’s extremely hard to get the passages clear

Ahh I think I have to clean my carb… question, last Friday 6/10/2022, I cracked stator cover and was leaking oil… long story longer. I took it as an opportunity to get to know my bike… I took the seat off, fuel tank off, fixed the stator cover (with some jb weld) inside and out. When I put the fuel tank back on I turned the petcock to pri because the vacuum line from the motor to the petcock was ripped. now the bike won’t start without the choke on. Did i clog/ flood the carb?

Possibly a piece of dirt got in there🤷🏻‍♂️ it wouldn’t hurt to open it up and take a look.

Any idea why my Drz400s is not getting enough gas when I open it up? It cuts out and the fuel filter is empty... After 2 mins it fills back up. 👀
