Suzuki Burgman 400 VS The Yamaha Majesty 400 Who Will Win?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a down and dirty, unscientific comparison of the 2009 Suzuki Burgman 400 and the 2009 Yamaha Majesty 400. These are two very nice maxi scooters with similarities and differences which may have you scratching your head wondering which one to buy. If shopping for a used scooter it's pretty hard to go wrong either way. Thanks for all of your support and comments that make this channel possible. It's more of a side by side comparison than a "VS", but not sure what you expect these two guys to tell you. It says in the video which is which, if you can't tell the difference about which one they're talking about then it sounds like it's more an issue about you. It's just a video of two similar scooters, you don't get to see two of these side by side very often.

    I just picked up the 2022 Burgman 200, I had been researching between it and the Vespa 300. I am very satisfied that I made the right choice. I live in a City environment where freeway travel is an *option.* I did test the Burgman on the freeway for a short burst, it has great power, suspension, balance and stability. Ive always known the Burgmans to be excellent cruisers.

    I rode a couple of used Burgman 650s and was put off by the way the CVT operates. Eventually I found a new 2018 Burgman 650 just out of the box at a dealer in Houston in 2021 and bought it at a discount-$2K+ under sticker. At my CA house I have a 2014 Vespa GTV300 which, oddly enough, is quicker out of the hole than the Burgman 650 Executive. The Burgman is much more comfortable at higher speeds obviously, but I avoid TX freeways like the plague-to many semi’s and they’re allowed in all lanes in some places. The CVT is much smoother on the Vespa. The Burgman feels like it is shifting gears for some reason, and it’s especially obvious when slowing to a stop.

    I had the Majesty and loved it, found it better on the highway than the Burgman Used it to go to work on the 400 highway 102 km each way, and many weekend tours. Now in 2024 you can only get a Yamaha 300 so looking at the new Burgman 400 2024, but on the 2024 the under seat storage seem to be much less, so putting a 52 liter top box. for storing my helmet and jacket when stopped. Keeping the under seat for the heavier stuff. Also going to add heated grips and hand guards and battery tender.

    Hey Larry and Wes with man cave Mayhem. Question for you. Do you know if there are shorter shocks that can be put on a Burgman 400 or a Yamaha Majesty 400? Still trying to get one of these things for my wife so I can get the 650 Burgman LOL. She stands about 5 or maybe five foot one. Had her sit on a Burgman 400 and she can only get the very tips of her toes to touch the ground to balance so before I get her something I want to see if I can use a regular standard shorter shocks for the 400 Majesty or if there is a shorter models shock for the Burgman 400 I know that they can be adjusted but even at setting 3 which I believe is standard I don't think it's going to be short enough for her to put her feet almost flat

  • @ManCaveMayhem

    @ManCaveMayhem

    MAURICE JOHNS I don’t think there are shorter shocks but they do make a 200 cc Burgman that might work for the wife. Maybe check that out. I think you would have issues with the rear tire clearing the fender well if you shortened the shocks. I hope this helps.

    The 400 Bergman is a nice machine. I'm used to 850cc, and other than track and adventure biking I'd doubt I'd run anything other than a step through for a daily, they are so convenient and since you can't change the speed limit it's more power than you need, it will comfortably run 80 with a light headwind and slight grade with 200lb rider.

    My brother has the 400 Bergman, I'm used to the bigger bikes but once you ride one of these you will be sold...comfortably does 80 in a light headwind on a mild grade, with a 200lb rider. My only complaint is the small tire and pothole situation, other than that if you have hip issues or whatnot a step through is the ticket...I doubt except adventure biking or track purposes I'd ride anything other than a step through anymore.

    Well, as you probably know by now, I got the Yamaha, and glad I did, as it was the best choice for now. I'm doing the seals on the bike, as they now leak. Living in Canada is hard on bikes during winter months and no garage, even when I covered it up with 2 covers. Anyway, I did find a way to remove the front shocks without having to remove all the plastic front parts...thank goodness! Looking for a video on doing the back brakes, do you have one? I am having to restore the front calibers a bit which is again, a winter problem. I have to change out the back tire too. It sure runs great after upgrading the tranny with the Italian setup. Wow, much smoother with the 5 pads instead of the 3. Hey, where can I get the mirrors you have with the extended arm? Great comparison friends, did you know the seat of the Yamaha is adjustable? it can be adjusted forward and backward, I own a Yamaha Majesty 400 2006, I bought a Malossi clutch set and bell, it has 5 pads instead of 3 wich is smoother, you can also buy malossi spring kit for it so you can take off to higher revs, this doesn't work for me because of the traffic, it is kind of annoying that you have to rev more to take off, I lower the rollers to 13.5 grams, originally they come in 15 grams, It just revs and takes off much faster, have to mention that only use it at the city here in Mexico where we have much traffic, regards.

    Burgman older models had dual brake system, but new from 2008 have separated. This Burgman has front and rear separated. Although it could be possible that when you apply enough brakeing on the back that front right disc is also breaking 25%. Older Burgman had this until 2006/7 afterwards they took this option out.Having dual system is ok, the problem if if you use left lever or rear brake all the time (which is wrong) you will have one of the front disc uneven used.

    @@johnmitchell2741 finally I took the Burgman, but I must admit with a bit of shame that the Italian roads have deteriorated much since I was riding a motorcycle as a young man. it will be for the crisis, it will be for the bad management of public affairs, the moral of the story is that the holes and manholes of my city are real traps, and surprisingly I have the problems on the front and not on the rear. I think that in the USA the roads are much more cared and smooth

    I think when it is all said and done these two machines are about the same so a decision might come down to which brand you prefer. I once owned, for a few months, a Piaggio MP 3 400 so I have some experience with this size bike. Granted the Piaggio had 2 wheels up front and single cylinder 400cc engine as is the Suzuki. The twin Yamaha may be a little smoother. The maxi scooter is designed for open road riding and touring rather than delivering pizza. It could do that but it is far too big and heavy for that to be the reason to buy it. Since these are 2009 versions I would expect there to have been some improvements. On the principle that if it ain't broke don't fix it there is no need to change the basic design but as with the Burgman's bigger brother the 650 AN cruise control would be a good idea - it just makes the day's riding so much better. Traction control for wet and slippery roads would be another option to consider. In my view forget the whole bike v scooter thing and ride what you like, what you can afford that gets you where you need to go. It is the ride that is important not how fast you were going or how quickly you got there only that you got there in your own style and comfort. I don't like to preach or tell others what to do but I feel if you're promoting motor cycling it is best to be seen riding in proper safety gear. Thanks for the video

    So I think the Bergman was the one that broke down on the 66 touring? I have in my sights the Yamaha, but it's over 10 thousand Klm. And I don't think they have done any tune-up work on it at all...so would mean a complete workover. Which I can do, but an expensive buy at that rate. It is a 2012 Yamaha..Majesty. Both are 4 valve overhead cam... Good thing I can follow your mechanic videos, as those REALLY help to know how to properly service...thanks guys!!:) I see these bikes all over Europe!! Like wow, even South America...not many here in Prairie western Canada.!LOL I DOhave to ask about the wind factor, how do they handle with that? Some don't like to ride 400's in winds as they are too light a bike then?? Just wondering? I know you must have got some across those plains while driving on 66!:) The Yamaha does have adjustable shocks on the back too...which helps with ride choices...I think the Suzuki does too.
