It's light and makes mad turbo noises... I NEED ONE!

The "vents" on the front fenders are actually filler panels so they could use the same fenders as the square headlight version (CL22V) without having to mfg two different variants. One of my absolute favorite Kei cars right here.

big props to you man, for an american you really know your cars, not knocking american car culture but i didnt expect an american to shout out for a clio williams, i understand the big kei car upsurge over there but old euro hothatches, especially the french ones, dont seem to be known that well over there

I am a few days over 22, and an American, but I simply do not care for most American cars. Everything is "Bigger! More power! Bigger! More power!", and I am not a fan. I am massively into compact hothatches, and am an FF enthusiast. As such, the Clio Williams is one of my favorites. Renault Clio, Peugeot 205, Mini Cooper S, EG6 Civic, so on and so forth. But of all of them, my absolute favorite has to be the Suzuki Alto Works RS/X. I know, I could get the AWD RS/R, but like I said, I am an FF enthusiast. Besides, an FF drivetrain is lighter and more efficient, fewer powertrain losses.

Koneko Ray the Mini Cooper S is the most readily available small car in your list. You should pay a visit to Duncan imports as they have dozens of cars that could work for you. Thanks for watching

I bought a 1996 Alto Works iES Turbo in July. Flew to Maryland and drove back to Texas, super cool ride. Just a little sad that it doesn’t have the twin cam motor.

Since the original intake sleeve no longer available, this car is sporting Ford F-250 upper coolant hose in its place and it fits perfectly:)

Michael Y. Several of my older cars (vw, citroen) have coolant hoses, vacuum lines etc that are from other vehicles

Interested in the gaggle of 1994 or older hot-hatch-turbo "Kei" cars to possibly bring to USA.....how to compare? ( say, this car vs. Daihatsu Mira TR-XX, and others). Also...parts availabilty???

Wil Ferch thanks for watching and for your comment! As far as parts similarity and availability in the US the Beat, ACTY and Honda van are going to be the easiest to maintain. The turbo charged cars use a lot of sensors and things not commonly available and few people are yet accustomed to working on them. As will Skyline and others that is changing. @@TimsEnthusiastGarage ....car is envisioned as a purposely light-weight hobby car...small hot hatchback in lieu of Brit Mini....work on the car would be mostly DIY, so I would need manuals (better in English), and just wondering how normal things like air filters, brake pads, etc, availability would be? Notice I'm focusing more on the Turbo hatchbacks, not Honda Beats or their ilk.

Wil Ferch I have a 1300i rover mini imported from Japan as well. As far as cars like the Minica, Alto Works or the like for the most part brake pads are readily available. Filters and such are shared amongst many cars as well. It sounds like you have fairly high mechanical aptitude so one of these cars should not be too much of an issue. Some items like axles for example are shared across a dozen cars or so. There are also some burgeoning Facebook groups to help import parts and the cars themselves .

Question, what battery did you use in your Alto, as my battery died in mine and I'm in the USA. I bought the pencil post to SAE adapters so I don't have to cut and change the terminals

@@nipponjim7815 It's even worse than that, I grew up with carburetors and the skill to drive a carb with issues is almost totally gone - like needing to press gas pedal down once before starting or how to drive one with a bad accelerator pump or using heel and toe to keep engine running while on brake when it doesn't want to idle.

Duncan's prices are completely insane.

No, I have a mate that has one but I have yet to spend much time in it. I do fit so there is that :-)

My ha22s is a rusty shitheap... Most altos in Japan are. Difference is those don't usually make it to export, they get dumped at the trackers and parted out.

@@TimsEnthusiastGarage 👌 In the US, glad I've been using 93 I read that Japan has 98 and that's what was likely used there. Ty Btw mine is a '95 only 114,000 I use as an everyday driver and so far no complaints
