I assume you got your saw mill up an running.

That is an ingenious machine, looks very efficient! It would take much longer to hand dig a test pit to that depth for sure. The only drawback I could see is that it looks like it would be difficult to map the soil changes on paper when you can't physically get down in the hole. But still, that machine and screening method looks so much easier than I've ever seen it done! Thanks for sharing the video! Angelo

I plan to build a set of down-the-hole tools. One to recover tools that accidently fall in the hole. I lost my hammer down the hole on Day 1. Fortunately it stayed on top of the auger bucket when I raised it. I tethered all of my tools on Day 2. One tool to scoop out rocks that are too big to dig with the auger bucket. One to extract small soil samples from the wall. And one with a boreoscope inspection camera. If we set a measuring tape down one side of the hole and run the camera down the opposite side, we can take a sequence of photographs that will record the soil profile. It may be possible to make a tool for extracting OSL samples from the wall. OSL is a method for dating the age of the soil.

The Paleo digger is awesome. You have really put together an excellent machine.

I knew they trapped Eels up the Juniata a lot..in fact not to far up you can still see remnants of the stone traps which settlers used also...

I found a site near the Schuylkill River in Berks County... Bone fragments everywhere and even found these weird artifacts while digging by a tree in a very muddy place. I can show you them and where they were found. I tried contacting people but they all say I'd have to fund a dig myself or don't believe someone with no credentials. I have evidence but no audience.

Cool! I have never seen one of these machines before. Dang! That's a lot of finely sifted topsoil (seems like a shame to throw it back in the hole)

I have found multiple full and broken points about 2000 yards north of where you were digging in the first clip of you digging!

He kinda reminds me of John Candy.

Yes, we are planning to do more work along the Susquehanna River, possibly on the east side farther upstream.

This is right down the road from me,,, maybe 2.5 miles ,whish I had known about it, I'd been willing to help,, and I k ow the area well as far as traffic patterns go even where to get lunch🤣🤣 it's cool wene things are close to home

Do you do this in other parts of the state? Our township is looking to do a dig test - just wondering if could this be done... Keep up the good work...
