Lyrics
Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am
You know I can't let you slide through my hands
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away
I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken, tears have been cried
Let's do some living before we die
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild horses we will ride them someday
Wild horses, wild horses

I'm amazed how the Stones came to write such a sad love song like this, but i could never imagine them delivering the song as Susan has done here, it's absolutely the epitome of music that makes us feel human. Heartfelt, windswept, you name it. Makes me wish we all returned to having a heart.

You know; I'm 57 years old now. All of my life I have listened to fine music. Orchestra, rock, blues, new age, European techno and so on. When I heard Susan's version of this song "Wild Horses" I was emediatly set back with pause. I was raised in the e upper peninsula of Michigan on a small farm. My point is when we listen to fine music it can make us remember the people in our lives. I'm the only. One left in my family. When I go the Becker name finished. So be good to the people in your life and cherish each and every moment you have with them.

The key words are - Fine music can make us remember people in our lives, not just any music. Also, it doesn’t matter where the singer comes from. A singer from Scotland who probably knows nothing about a small farm in Michigan, yet here she was, touching your soul with fine music.

During the pandemic in 2020 my lovely dad collapsed with a stroke and then diagnosed with a brain tumour. With hospital visiting only permitted for end of life patients and limited to one visitor we decided to nurse dad at home. I moved back home to nurse him and this song sums up exactly how I felt …. Wild horses couldn’t drag me away. A really traumatic time where our hearts were breaking but so grateful to have had him at home for the last 6 weeks of his life . Everytime I hear this song I am taken back to that time and although sad it was a precious time with my wonderful dad.

I like Susan Boyle. She does great job with this song. I own this CD. But she is not in my Top Ten of best singers. She’s good, but if you want a female singer with no training, there was a shy, insecure drummer who dominated the early 70s and had a perfect voice, Karen Carpenter. Did most of her records in one take. Don’t let the syrupy ballads fool you, Karen had great range, phrasing, and connection.

@@markbrisson2102 👍 I would also include Alison Moyet on any great female singers list. You're spot on about Karen, what an absolutely incredible singer she was.

This woman is a GREAT TALENT who I believe didn't get the recognition she DEFINITELY DESERVES (not in the US anyway) DAMN SHAME SMH. When I hear talent I'm not looking at the outside of the person but there ACTUAL talent. People like Britney Spears, Katy Perry Mily Cyrus & alot of others are simply PERFORMERS/ dancers w auto tuned voices NOT GIFTED singer's like this beautiful soul..People like Susan don't have to dress half naked or do stupid crap for scandals for the attention to stay relevant. Im sure she's a very private lady as I certainly would be too. She's probably living her best life with her cats/ famliy in the beautiful countryside of Scotland. ❤⭐

This is the gold standard for covers that pay respect to the original, but elevate it. I never realized how sad and profound the lyrics were until she sang it.
