I've seen so many reactions to this, but yours is by far shows the best love and warmth.. genuine.. I love how you had her back from beginning to end. Susan is absolutely amazing. She spent her life, putting her dreams on hold to take care of her Mother. At 47 she was finally able to pursue her dreams

I completely agree about the bullying! Including what you said about Simon. For his credit he did recognised his mistake and made sure that even if she did not win the contest that she got a record deal. She made few records after that. I have most of them. Her voice is perfect in the studio setting. Worth getting.

@@samhartford8677 Simon also had her back when she had a meltdown early in her career. He reduced her schedule and made sure she got help, and when she was diagnosed with Asperger's he made sure she performed and recorded on her schedule instead of being pushed. His love for and management of Susan raised him up in my estimation. He proved that there can be kindness under all the snark.

"Shows the best love and warmth", nah. Guarantee that if she went into the video not knowing Susan could sing, she would have been reacting the same as the people in the audience. She already had a bias before watching the video.

The was one of the most magical moments in the history of television. She had autism and had been badly bullied as a child, leading to a rather isolated life. She had spent her entire adult life caring for her elderly invalid parents. After they passed away, she built up the courage to go on this audition. Ironically, she ended up finishing second that season...but she has gone on to a HUGELY successful career, selling millions of albums and is now one of Britains biggest singing stars. She actually signed on with Simon's record company and he has become her manager. Despite all the success, she still lives in her little village and remains a humble and gracious person.

This is without a doubt a tribute to the triumph of the human spirit. Her performance struck such a chord with so many and in different ways. There were even threats made against those who made faces at the beginning. She overcame a lot just to get up and sing and would have to endure even more in the months that followed.

I recall, in a part of a documentary, when she and Simon were in a very large and luxurious hotel and Susan said something about doing something her "boss" wanted. Simon quickly corrected her, "You're the boss. I'm working for you." It was a nice moment.

"She made Simon look stoopid!" "Everyone laughing at her because of her age, y'all look stoopid now. Stoopid!" I've watched a lot of reactions to this song (I can't help it) and this one is one of the best, if not the best. This audition brings me to tears most every time, and lifts me up too when I'm feeling down. This song is deep too and from a play based on a book by Victor Hugo in the 1800s dealing with the social situation in France at the time...the same things we're dealing with today, btw. Here's something from Wikipedia: "Hugo explained his ambitions for the novel to his Italian publisher:[9] I don't know whether it will be read by everyone, but it is meant for everyone. It addresses England as well as Spain, Italy as well as France, Germany as well as Ireland, the republics that harbour slaves as well as empires that have serfs. Social problems go beyond frontiers. Humankind's wounds, those huge sores that litter the world, do not stop at the blue and red lines drawn on maps. Wherever men go in ignorance or despair, wherever women sell themselves for bread, wherever children lack a book to learn from or a warm hearth, Les Misérables knocks at the door and says: "open up, I am here for you"." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Misérables

She came second much to the surprise of many. However she has gone on to record several albums and is now a wealthy woman though some talk of her wealth is exaggerated. She still live sin the same house in that village and hasn't changed much. She has period of mental health issues but still performs occasionally. And she got to sing with Elaine Paige who is a massive theatre star here.

In real life Susan was very shy. She is the youngest of about 10 children and her siblings told her she was slow so she had to stay home until their Mother died and look after her. Susan did that with love because she wanted to. That is why she waited until she was 47. She did sing with Elaine Page, she looks so pretty now and happy. Simon became her manager and he is a really good one. He knew when she was afraid. You can yell at him but he loves her like family. She is worth a lot of money now but she still lives in the little house she grew up in. She had the kitchen and bathroom updated and the other rooms painted. If Simon wasn’t careful at the start she would have broken down but he sees these things. So it was always at her pace. Susan is wonderful and a joy. My adopted daughter was in Les Miserables as Eponine. She also sings this song like Susan does. Or she did until she walked away from the stage.

something that makes Susan's performance even more amusingly special, she spent her time looking after her parents and had undiagnosed Aspergers plus even more importantly that's her singing with zero singing lessons.

Great reaction. Another perfect case of judging book by its cover in Charlotte and Jonathan on BGT in 2011. Simon said as they were walking onto the stage "just when you thought it couldn't get any worse" He was bullied all through his school years but has grown into a wonderful human being. Check it out. I really hope you do, like Susan, it has a profound affect. Well they did with me.

I Googled "What is Susan Boyle's net worth" about 6 months ago and the answer came back "40 million dollars". She is probably worth more now. She has been on multiple tours and appeared on many shows. I know she has been here to the U.S., Australia, China. She even sang a duet with her idol Elaine Page in front of probably a thousand or more people. I think she sang ,"Wild Horses" on America's Got Talent. She still hangs out with her friends back home and she doesn't need to make tours but she probably will infrequently. I love Susan Boyle and I bought her CD that came out maybe 10 years ago but someone stole it from my glove compartment in my 1990 Toyota Camry.

Susan went on to become what she wanted. She tours the world. You have shown the incredible amount of love and tolerance you have in your soul. I have enjoyed you and who you are . I have watched so many of you younger people respond to this and it warmed my heart. I am a 77 year old white retired nurse from the sixties. Everyone of you who took time to view this video had the same response to the initial treatment of this wonderful woman who grew up with Autism and was kind of bullied. All of you have given me a new sense of hope for our country’s future. You open your hearts and ears to music you have not heard and appreciate the talent. I love how you also zoom in on the words of the songs. I hate to admit it but I didn’t always do that realizing I have learned from all of you that you are never too old to learn. Please don’t change. The world needs people just like you to remind us how beautiful humanity can be. You put a huge smile on my face.

This is why the show "The Voice" is so successful. They judge the person by their voice, not by their looks, or age. She got the last laugh, she's a multimillionaire.
