Survivorman & Son | Episode 2 | Wabakimi | Les Stroud

Ойын-сауық

Les and Logan set out for a father/son fishing trip in a tin boat. Stranded after their motor dies, Les and Logan are quickly plunged into an intense survival situation that could happen to any summer cottager. This father/son team must work together to stay hydrated, secure food, make shelter and flag down a rescue plane. Les gets creative using bug spray as a fire-starter. Father/son dynamics effect his decision-making.

One thing Les has always been known for is authenticity, insight and honest reflection. It's good to see, like father like son. Hearing him sharing his mind with the audience as well has been entertaining. I've always enjoyed having the little asides where Les shares his thoughts, concerns, explains his reasoning and shares his experience. It's a valuable look into the often reclusive mind of not just a survivalist but also a father.

@John Marston lol .. so, when someone has a highly commented channel, the most they are going to do is read a few comments on their latest video, maybe, and maybe respond off the cuff. I don't see your comment listed, i spent a while scrolling down, try loading the page incognito and see if it's even there. If it didnt get likes then even the most attentive channel won't notice it. You absolutely shouldn't take it personally. With a channel like this, the responses are like randomly chosen needles in momentary haystacks.

Give him 15 years and he will look back at these moments and realise they were some of the best of his life! My old boy took me out on a 6 month prospecting trip to the Western Australian outback when i was 16 and I had my 17th birthday on that trip. Im now 32 and would love to be able to experience that with him again. This made me relive that time and im looking forward to the next episodes and also Logans life journey from here on in, i got his back! Bravo legends !!

I love that even with 100x the experience, Les still has to eat his words every time with his kid. Just goes to show you that his preferred survival style isn't necessarily perfection, just what he's comfortable with. Logan's style of focusing on food and damning the rest is an interesting contrast to Les's style of not eating for a week.

True. In the first episode I also found it quite funny that he kept saying that he needed to keep his son's spirits up and used that as reasoning for what was basically just good parenting. Listening to his ideas, respecting him as an equal where ever possible and allowing him to make mistakes. I could be reading too much into this, but it kind of felt like he just wanted to give survival related reasons for his usual parenting style, which is kind of sweet.

Logan seemed aloof but it was clear he knew how to fish and wanted to go to the store and get dinner. His calm relaxed demeanor conserved the energy needed to catch those fish and make those spears (remember Les and SurvivorBob and fishing).

Well young men. I miss all the crazy, the bumping heads, I miss every little thing. But moments like this with your children teaching them life skills that out society seems to not think they need will never be forgotten. Thanks for sharing. And if ya got kids cherish them people. I couldn't be prouder of the fine, responsible young men I have. But one day you might just learn that the most important job you had in this life just walked out the door. Make time for them. Be present. No matter how tired, sick, or hurting you are. It only take a short time to make an impact that could literally change our world. Take care of each other people. Every word, every action matters.

Next animals may go to that spot on shore. Pro tip at least from personal experience, in colder temps it can be easier to stay awake at night in the colder temps and sleep in the warmth of the morning. If possible sleep at evening and morning couple hours each. Tend the fire and stay awake in those midnight hours.

Wished my father would have done something like this with me. Not even the survival, just a fishing trip and camping. But for him all that counted was school and learning and results. He used only pressure. So, naturally, I revolted and left home. Didn't talk that much afterwards, but the birth of my children forced a kind of truce. He loved them. Just last month I went the first time camping and fishing with all my three grandsons. We had a fabulous time. Thank you Les for teaching us and your son.

I loved this show and it, especially these episodes with you and your son, brings back fond memories of good times earlier in my childhood outdoors with my mom when she would take me hiking, camping, hunting for mushrooms, crawdads, and nightcrawlers. Even memories like her stopping the truck in the middle of the road to pick up a snake and setting it in the treeline joking. My mother took her own life after quietly struggling with depression in 2004 when I was 12 and Survivorman was one of the shows that helped me through the following years, and as an adult continue to learn and spend more time outdoors as she would have wanted.

I swear before my father died we used to watch surviverman on discovery Channel. I'm 38 now but my father tried to teach me things as a teenager back when the Y2K scare was around but the things I did not learn les Stroud, Joe Robinette, ext. filled in. I wish I could go back and take everything my father tried to teach me and learn more. But now I thank God for shows like this to show the in-between of what I lost. I hope that I can and will share this knowledge with my son. Thanx brother!

They may have camped, but no kid really completely heeds the words of their parents without some experience. This is the experience, although it is pretty funny how many jabs he takes at the kid. But honestly, just seems like a healthy father and son relationship.

I'm a big fan of the series and all you do. Watching the survivorman & son I do have a question. Logan is 16 yo here so at that age it is normal to give the decision making to your parents especially If you know theyre the ones with the experience. Both your experience and the fact you're his father makes it the natural thing to do at 16. The past 16 years his survival on this planet was in your hands basically. In the voice over you speak a lot about this being 'frustrating'. As a 16 yo that would have probably hurt his ego watching the final edits. So my question is as for us viewers these things are not always clear in the cut footage of the final edit. Did you discuss / talk about these feelings in the field? It's really important even when it can lead to frustrating confrontations to talk about these things and share your feelings. He's acting from what he is used to. At 16 you need instructions but you're old and wise enough to follow them well. Basically what I'm saying is that expecting Logan at age 16 to start doing these things on his own is not good for the survival situation or your own mood. Just out of curiosity! Love the series thank you for many hours of educative entertainment
