CRAZY! Can’t believe Heidi gave up her immunity to make fire! Such a big move and I respect her for that! Very sad that Carson came up short / we didn’t have a Tika 3 for the final 3 😢

Since Josh was voted out, I was dying for a Tika final 3. Unfortunately we didn't get it but I'm still happy with the winner. Carson was my mother's pick to win from the beginning, and he was mine too, along with Carolyn.

They should've gone for her instead of Lauren. Heidi targeted Carson cuz she knew Carson will win hands down in the final 3 because he was highly but subtly strategic. She didn't stand a chance sitting in the last 3 with Carson in it. Just shows how superior Carson is because Heidi feared him winning. She had to make sure there was no Carson standing in her chance of winning. I'm happy another Tika won in Yam-Yam. Was hoping for any of the Tika 3 to win, so even if Carson didn't still happy for him. Great stategist! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Survivor keep adding twists like final 3 in Cook Islands, and mandatory fire making, hoping to save the most popular person. And players just keep adjusting their strategies so that the biggest threat goes out at fire anyways
Heidi is very confident about making fire because on the first day she made fire for her tribe.
Choosing to make fire while having immunity is the boss move. I've seen several women refuse this option, good for her.

Why specify women, many men have refused this option too
1st player to put themself into fire and go on to NOT win the game. Though by doing this she probably secured 2nd so I guess good for her.

One thing I can never knock this show on is the music. If for nothing else, all 44 seasons have 10/10 soundtracks.
This literally proves why the fire making final 4 showtown is bullshit. Why did she have to give up immunity to prove her game when she won safety fair and square?

It’s a move you make if you know you would be the big underdog heading into final tribal council and need to make a big move to boost your “resume”, so to speak. Heidi presumably knew that she couldn’t beat Carson and Yam Yam, and probably not Carolyn either, and I’m guessing the perception of her was that she was wishy-washy and hadn’t taken any real initiative in the game. Putting herself into fire was a bold move that showed the jury that she wasn’t afraid to take risks and also that she understood their perception of her as someone who hadn’t played an amazing game. Obviously, it wasn’t enough for her to overtake Yam Yam, but if she didn’t do it, I think she loses 8-0 instead of 7-1. The Season 43 contestant erred because she explained her decision to not make fire as being because her game stood on its own already. Compared to the winner I don’t really disagree, but the jury disagreed with this self-perception. She should have said something like “i understand that putting myself into fire to take out the biggest threat would be a big move to add to my resume, but I am super super terrible at fire [even if that’s a lie], so if I put myself up against BIG THREAT player, then BIG THREAT player would win the season. Instead, I put our best fire maker in to ensure that BIG THREAT was eliminated.” To be clear, I don’t think the 43 player would have won even if she said that. The jury was either bitter towards her and/or did not respect her game, and thought she viewed her game as being better than they did. Refusing to make fire was just a pretext for them to not vote for her. The only time I think firemaking is genuinely required is with contestants who had already been voted out. In that situation, even jurors who like them will feel iffy about voting for someone who had already been eliminated, so they need to do as much as they possibly can to burnish their resume. This is all very long but I do think that final four fire making should go away. If Heidi had won the season like i had feared after the challenge, I think she would have won because the jury already liked her more and would use that as a justification for their already-made decision. However, the narrative that the show would have presented would have been that Heidi won because she made fire, and that would be an infuriating way to end the season, and one that obviously discounts the season-long gameplay.

I disagree that it's BS but I think something can be improved or changed for the final 4 tribal Giving up immunity when your underdog isn't enough (unless the last 2 is equally trash)
hedi made a smart move good play great move I wanted Carson wanted out but I liked him

The gameplay in this season was shit. The Tika 3 was obviously a threat and they could've easily been taken out at any time but everyone else was just an idiot
1:45 it was at this moment when Heidi had it in the bag.
She almost did the EoE Chris thing.
She thought she stood a better chance with Yam2 and Carolyn and so chose to beat Carson. Glad she lost to Yam2. Great job Carson!!!

Honestly, I would give up my immunity and take out Carolyn and the fire making challenge. I wanted to take her out because she voted out the two Tika Women Helen and Sarah and she’s kind of annoying in this season.
I gotta say, I’m really tired of the narrative that you personally giving up immunity and beating the “frontrunner” in fire is some massive move. For example, I think it’s fair to say Yam Yam beats Carson in fire. To me, Heidi beating Carson in fire is the same thing as Heidi using her necklace to force Yam Yam to beat Carson in fire, plus more risk. If anything, I would consider it a bad move if I was on the jury. The only times it made sense is Dom vs Wendell bc they were both so equal in gameplay, and Chris vs Devens bc Chris needed a resume.
@devondonato4609

This wasn’t a bad move, this is legitimately what gave her respect on the jury. You can be tired of the narrative all you want but the juries on modern survivor respect this move and it’s a good move to do it if you were in a bad position to win like Heidi was, she had nothing to lose
