Surviving and Thriving: Living Beyond a Distracted Life | Chrissy Hofbeck | TEDxPenn
Chrissy competed on season 35 of CBS’s hit reality TV show, SURVIVOR: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, which aired in the fall of 2017. Despite being the oldest player in the game, she placed second overall, and tied the record for the most individual immunity wins by a woman in Survivor history. In this talk, Chrissy tells the tale of her distracted life pre-Survivor, and how playing the game helped her to appreciate today and see a world beyond the clock. Chrissy is a consulting actuary and frequent keynote speaker who specializes in helping organizations build or improve their predictive analytics capabilities and data driven decisioning. Her work has been featured in publications including The Actuary, Sync Magazine, and National Geographic’s documentary television series Breakthrough. She holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (in Mathematics) and MIT (MBA), and currently serves on the Society of Actuaries Executive Board of Directors. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Her revelation came from JP out of all people
Chrissy you're my hero
QUEEN OF SURVIVOR
I'm 21 and i relate to this talk so much already.
Beautiful person inside and out. A true role model for people who aspire to pursue their dreams.
If not for that crazy Final 4 twist, she would've won!

At best she ties for 2nd with Devon as Ben, Joe,and cole said soon after they would vote Ryan, Lauren, and Ashley have a good reason to do Devon and since either vote Ryan in a tie she already loses, but ya Mike probably does vote her, JP should vote with Ben though he may vote Ryan, and Desi should vote with the Healers so i think Ryan wins 4-3-1
It’s a great thing to see that someone can elaborate on thriving. Constantly being distracted and engaging distractions won’t cause you to thrive in my opinion. Anyone wanting your life to be filled with a lot of distractions is a trained psychological killer.
What a legend 🤘✊ so very inspirational 🙌😊
Chrissy, I'd love to see you return!
Chrissy is awesome!
She was the best in HHH
This is an amazing speech! Truly an amazing woman!
Amazing thank you ❤
Beautiful talk!
As an actuary and a huge survivor fan, there are very few people I look up to more.
If Chrissy and Kass aren’t both on a Heroes vs Villains season, I’m going to be mad.
Chrissy should’ve won
all of you ignoring her speech just to say that she was robbed missed the entire point of the speech- anyways..she's really amazing and super inspirational. She's super well-spoken, I love her

*Devon
I didn't like her because of her edit on the show, but I really like her now after seeing this
Queen. Should've won even with Ben in the final 3. Challenge and strategic beast.

She should’ve won
Is that all there is this life has to offer us? Mere survival?
I think Chrissy played an amazing game but I don't know . I feel Ben definitely deserved the win.I know a lot of you guys would disagree with me😬😬
Maybe don't give TED Talks to people from reality TV.
In Survivor she shows all the signs of a sociopath. Smiling as she manipulated. She gloried in others' downfalls. In survivor you have to move people out of the way to reach the goal - but she thoroughly *enjoyed* knocking others down. She makes me want to vomit. So happy Ben won.

Do you know Survivor is a game right? Chill out. She acted as LOTS of people did while they played. How's the weather on your high horse?
