Survival Glasses - Solo Bushcraft Trip

#bushcraft #survival #camping
Trying out making birch bark pinhole glasses. Worked great. The reduced amount of light reaching the retina, gives increased depth of field and can act as reading glasses. Of course a piece of paper, cloth or whatever also would work. Hold your hand out flat and look through a tiny space between your fingers with one eye, after some adjustments you can make this work as a quick method that is very effective.
Coldest month of may I can remember. Chilling nights. So the fish are not eating yet but fun to crank anyway.
Drum tight lavvu poncho setup. That is deeply satisfying to me LOL
Thanks for watching!

Hi swed. I have been following you since 2018. I believed that you have a telepathic relationship with your followers. Whenever I think that there is no voicefrom swed for a long time, you immediately post a video. I don't think I am the only one in this regard. I think you have become a big family with your followers. Congratulations and youtube The value you add to youtube family is beyond reality. I hope youtube read this article.. Greetings.

When I had cateracts in both eyes, it was so bad I could barely see any more, it was like walking in a dense fog all the time. The optician put a pair of pinhole glasses on me and suddenly my vision improved to the point I could read words again. This really does work, the effect is incredible.

I love your videos and watch them as often as possible. I used to spend days in the wilderness by myself with just a bed roll, knife, and fire starter. Mother earth supplied everything else needed. That was back in the 1960's when life was more simple. Thank you for sharing a portion of your life with us.

Interesting, never saw anything like it. It’s funny, whenever I watch “bushcrafters” trying to light a fire by striking their ferro rod multiple times, going a hundred miles per hour, I always tell them to watch one of your videos to see the master of the one strike fire starter. 😂 You know, when the SHTF, I want to be right next to you! Thanks for toting us along for another great journey.

As someone that is older but new to glasses. I appreciate this knowledge. May need to practice it this summer. At some point in my exam, I looked through pinhole eyepiece and saw the chart clear as day. These might be lifesaver in the woods if someone lost or broke their eyeglasses.

Such cool pinhole glasses. If one was unfortunate enough to break or lose their prescription glasses this knowledge could be invaluable. The opposite of “The blue dot” is the the little white dot in the blue lake.

Take care! Un saluto dall'Italia!

I've seen snow goggles made from Birch Bark but never pin hole glasses. Such useful knowledge learned from your video, thank you. I think the closing shots of the little island are a master stroke, because they touch something in 99% of your viewer's feelings about the beauty and isolation in the wild, provided one has the skills and knowledge to thrive there.

Imminently enjoyable, educational, and interesting _as usual._ I never thought to use the snow glasses to increase visual acuity in non-whiteout conditions. I just tried that out, sine I have a pair that I made from bone based on the Inuit design, (our indigenous friends in N. Americas arctic). Hey, it works! You had a ton of stuff in this vid., Swed! Thanks so much for the infospiration!

Hahah Where do you get such ideas? My eye-sight is weak and since I was a young boy, i knew it. And one day i tried to look at the ZV through the fingers of my hand, opened just enough so that I could see through them.. that was a day of enlightenment. I often use this technique outfoors when I need to see a tect or object in focus or overcome my eye-sight weakness..

Too bad about the fish but yeah, in cold weather the bites have to be forced by being aggressive with the bait and rod, besides that's why it's called fishing not catching🤣 Nice spectacles, peepers bushcraft style. Other than cold, the weather looked good. Informative and enjoyable like all your videos, well done and presented of course, thanks for the work. See ya next time.
