I went camping years ago and in the middle of the night I heard snoring in my sleeping bag and there was a raccoon sleeping on my feet and another sleeping on my hip. I went back to sleep and when I woke up they were gone.

About 25 years ago I was sleeping with my slider open. Found out the screen wasn't attached at the bottom when I reached down and pet my cat who was on my chest. I opened my eyes to see a possum, it was loving the attention but I was startled to no end.

Both these stories are awesome, thank you for sharing! What an absolute (and startling) treat to have a wild animal just bomb your sleep, incredible. What a gesture of trust and communion :)

Regarding the armadillo snippet: I've read that some armadillos are carriers of leprosy, so it's best not to handle them, at least not with bare hands. On the plus side, leprosy is very hard to catch, and there is a cure for it now, if you do catch it. I do think armadillos look pretty cool, though, and they aren't vicious.

When I was 9 years old towards 23 years old my parents home was our vacation home for about 14 years. We saw so many animals and even birds. I had good memories seeing a mama raccoon bringing her babies towards the bird feeders around the house. Squirrels red and grey ones, chipmunks, red foxes, deer, porcupines, skunks, and even deer. I saw a turkey once and a couple times a black bear. 1 oddest thing that I saw in the early 80’s was an all black grey squirrel. I thought it was so odd to see one.

I watched a documentary about them. Turns out they team up more often than previously thought, when there is sufficient food around to sustain that. The scientists in that docu speculated that they were actual pack hunters during the last ice age, but needed to reinvent their socail structure when food became more scarce.

Should not give cats milk unless it is made for a cat, normal milk gives them stomach upsets.

My cat likes to lick our cereal bowls clean after breakfast. He particularly likes yoghurt.
