My dog didn't have to be euthanized to taste chocolate. I dropped a chocolate donut 🍩 on the floor, and she gobbled it up faster than I could get it. She was perfectly fine. 🥰. She lived to be 19 years old.

Chocolate is toxic for your dog because it contains caffeine and a chemical called theobromine; two chemicals that dogs cannot metabolize as well as humans. While all types of chocolates can be toxic for dogs, the amount of those 2 things varies within each type. I guess there is not much of these in a chocolate donut.

@nathalie_desrosiers Thank you for sharing this information. My dog has been gone for almost two years now. She lived a long and happy life. She ate a chocolate donut 🍩, a whole dead sparrow, a couple of mice, and lots of other things that fell onto the floor. She lived to the age of 19. She's in doggy heaven now, so I guess that she's okay. We miss her every day. ❤️

They have to eat a lot of chocolate at once. A friend's Irish Setter ate most of a two-pound box of valentines candy and was fine. A little bit will not hurt a bigger dog.

My dad had a red lab that got into and ate an entire 3lb bag of chocolate. Motherfucker lived to be 12yrs old! Stomach of steel!

Oh my heart. Goodbye chocolates for dogs. My vet has a time set aside for sending puppies over the rainbow so we got to cry and grieve in private. He cried with us. And the have a scented candle burning at the same time.
