This is the best video of Sacramento. I see you did your research. A lot of people says Sacramento is a boring city but they don’t look at the rich history & the beautiful architectures. Incredible walk through. Even I don’t even know much of the building year it was build and I live here. You did great. 👍

Original old Sacramento was one story underground. You can still see the windows at grade level. There is a tour you can take under old Sacramento.

That's South Sac Iraq. I grew up in Stockton and you have to expect some riff raff...but you can never be caught slipping and be street smart too. But as a sub in the 80s and 90s, students respect how you project and handle yourself.

But none of these HS were as thuggish as Castlemont Oakland...those MFers came to fight rather than play ball! Castlemont had a good jazz funk band though.

DPH gets pretty crazy at times. Grant always had a formidable football team. It was good to see at least a percentage of those kids getting a chance to have a life outside of the streets. Not many of the kids who grow up in that hood ever made it outta there. I wish we as a society would do something significant to help them aside from labelling them as gangsters, slapping on the handcuffs, and locking them in a cage.

Lived near and worked right in downtown (OB 1, right across from the Capitol). I remember when the Tower Bridge got that coat of paint…we called it the “baby poop bridge”! 🤣. I used to occasionally go to the cafeteria in the basement of the Capitol, and whenever there were reports of earthquakes (California, after all), I would dash over to the Capitol and, right near the East doors, was a seismograph. Gorgeous building!

Some part of the city is so picturesque that it could be an ideal spot for canvass painters, particularly nature lovers. Because of so many big trees around everywhere, instead of concrete jungle which we see all over, Sacramento is a exemplary exception to it. Thanks for this stunningly beautiful video and trip both.

Did you get a chance to check out the Railroad Museum during your visit? I got a chuckle at 15:42 seeing the Embassy Suites on the right side of the road--when I stayed there years ago I got in trouble for going barefoot in the lobby to the breakfast bar. Curious to see your exploration of Gold Country, I'm headed up there next week myself. Until next time, happy trails!

If you end up going further north, be sure to make a stop in Willows, California. I've never lived there. But it's one of the more charming small cities of the central valley, and they have the Thunderhill Raceway Park. I grew up in Esparto California, a small town located just outside Capay Valley, which is a pretty gorgeous landscape that also has the Cache Creek Casino Resort; the main moneymaker of Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. The tribe has been very supportive of Esparto and its residents through yearly $1M donations to the school system, and the recent construction of both a health clinic and a park with a pool seen just as you enter town. Esparto is about 45 minutes west of Sacramento but there's all sorts of very small towns when you go futher up the valley. I recommend you check it out if you get the chance. There's also some wineries further north of there if you're in to that sort of thing.

Very entertaining and informative in your talks, one thing I do have to say is I am shocked at the amount of run down (refuse to use poverty) that the majority of places are, what is causing this, here in Australia we do have smaller rural towns that eventually shut down, but the big difference between here and the USA is population, Australia's population at present is 26 million on a land mass the same as mainland USA ?, please keep making these video's.

Joe and Nic watch all of your videos and you both have done a good job. I am 94 years old and was born at Mercy Hospital on Jay st, in 1929, Its to bad you cannot spend a couple of days here and let us know when you are coming so the city can greet you properly with a large party say at Raley field, 4 8 2024

I moved into southern California from the East a decade ago. Sacramento never seemed like a place I'd want to visit, but from your video it appears to be a delightful city. I'll add it to my vacation list. Another California town I visited recently due to watching your videos was Oceanside. Very nice.

From what I saw in the video the city does a very good job taking care of their trees, that is what 🌲🌴 trees in a city should look like. Been a tree Doctor all my life.

Great videos, I will never be able to travel around the USA, not even in my dreams, so when you take us with you, we can see how other people live the ratio of work and poverty, traveling is nice but also tiring, I had visited Europe, In a tour, I had to get up early to be ready for the tour bus to take us around to see places, after my trip vacation I was exhausted ..😅. But I did have a good time ... Blessings to you and Nicole drive safe and keep up the good work😊😅😅😅

I went to Newton Booth elementary school in 1957-58. Sacramento was @ 150,000 population then. Graduated from Luther Burbank High School in 1964. My how the city has grown over the years. It's always been beautiful.

I misspent my youth and college years in Sacramento. You did a nice job of showing the Old Sac area. But potential first time visitors should know there's a heck of a lot more to Sacramento. Lots of crime, lots of gang activity, truly horrendous amount of homeless. And there are real, proper ghettos. I was a little bit concerned for your safety in some of those shots. On the other hand, the rivers that run through Sac add a lot of fun recreational opportunities. Keep up your good work!

He was OK during the day, but that underpass... he was lucky there. In the 90's, walking across that bridge was no big deal, but now... Like I said, he was quite lucky. Not the city I knew as a kid.
