Excellent setup for any level. Very low risk move. If you're too forceful with the hip bump, you wil end up on top and if not, you can go back to closed guard and start again.

I don't understand why letting go of the lapel before doing the figure four. I think that if you leave your hand there and figure 4 to either side you'll still get a quick tap, no? The leg squeezes the hand on the neck.

@ooga ooga I know that , I just meant the amount of detail. Basically pull him down by the collar. You don't have time for all that detail with a quick collar grip/grab as a good guy will immediately try strip the grip. Or he should.

Nice technique, but I have to disagree with you about the collar grip. Maybe if you have small hands it’s better to grab less material, but someone like me with very big hands, it’s much more comfortable and controlling to grab a big wad of gi with the collar. Plus it tightens everything around the grip a little more. Takes slack out better.

Kinda funny how this triangle choke takes about 10 highly telegraphed moves. I choke guys out all the time with a triangle choke that is locked up tight in one fluid motion, no telegraph at all. A bit like Nate Diaz does his triangles. I don't even need to cross my legs over the back. Just saying, it's inefficient.
