Irenaeus Wong is open about a rough start to his Mac Eng journey. He faced failing out in 2017 before regaining his footing by finding mentors in the Faculty and seeking out experiential learning opportunities. He's now graduating with accolades to his name.
Recently he was named both the Mac Eng and McMaster Co-op Student of the Year. While he knew he was the Mac Eng co-op student of the year, we pulled off a surprise with his mentor and Chair of the Department of Materials Engineering, Hatem Zurob, and Engineering Co-op and Career Services Associate Director, Stephanie Harper, to deliver the news that he's the university-wide recipient.
"We keep accomplishing great things, but it's only possible because of the help of people such as Hatem and all the mentors that I've accumulated. They're like little Pokemon on my journeys through co-op," shares Irenaeus on receiving this honour.
