Surprised by Chateaudun: Day 11 on the Old Medieval Pilgrim’s Trail Walking from Paris to Bordeaux

On Day 11 I walked into Chateaudun from my detour to Illiers-Combray and was surprised by the splendour of its castle.
This video is part of a series (see the playlist) covering my post COVID project to walk the medieval pilgrim's trail from Paris to Bordeaux. I did it in the Spring of 2023.
The whole walk took 47 days and my route was the GR 655 which recreates the medieval Via Turonensis or Voie de Tours. Today not many pilgrims take this trail and one can walk stretches of it in perfect solitude.
The full route takes you to the Spanish border, crosses the Pyrenees and joins the famous el Camino to Santiago. Ambitious walkers go all the way, a journey of 1800 kms.
I am posting videos explaining, day by day with images what the walk meant to me and could mean to others who might give it a try.
Here's the link to the introductory video of the series.

Thanks for highlighting Jeanne d'Arc, John. She's a lighthouse of determination and faith and a great heroic figure for our time too. One savory detail in the redemptive and tragic story of Jeanne d'Arc is that the French cardinal who collaborated with her English assassins was named Cauchon--he was the bishop of Beauvais--and, by the endless homonymy of the language sounds, like Cardinal Pig in French.

Thanks for your comment. Coming up is more on Jeanne d’Arc. I mention her on Day 16 when I get to Blois, however, you will have to wait a while for my most evocative Jeanne d’Arc story, which comes when I get to a tiny village named St Catherine de Firebois (great name) south of Tours on Day 22 or 23.
