@@rebe2599 slightly off by a few meters or something, I think because the earth isn't on a perfect axis. My guess is whoever discovered them had the privilege of deciding the top and bottom. But still, how did Rosie not learn this in school or not question it until now?

I guess it does not matter as long as there are a few people that do question things, investigate and discover more, sadly most of us are not one of those people, instead we just live under the circumstances we received and we should not be judge by intellectual expectations that aren't ours

Rosie, your question re gravity is actually really valid. I'm an astrophysics student so it intrigued me. Maps are drawn with Europe at the top because it's closest to the north pole, which is named so due to the magnetic field of the earth currently being aligned such that it's North pole is there. However, earth's gravity acts toward its centre therefore once you are in space, any way up can be the"right way" up. Additionally, the earth travels anti clockwise around the sun, and in this configuration the north pole must be at the top for it to appear the "right way" up. So although maps are the same in Australia, they could be upside down and still valid and correctly represent the earth. I hope that made sense and I didn't make any mistakes haha

I am glad you ask these questions Rosie. The way we look at maps is backwards. America and Canada is actually on the bottom and Mexico/South America is at the top. And yes, sand makes glass. Amazing!!

Great video as usual, the two of you are amazing. Comedy is one of the hardest forms of acting and the two of you make it look so easy, that's talent. I like how you can go from being spontaneous to doing something that is scripted. And as for the physical humor that's also on point. I applaud you both.

Rosie! Some answers to your questions: 1. Sand came before glass! When you heat up sand to really high temperatures, it turns into a liquid. Then when it cools down, the molecules can't turn back into what they were before so they become glass. So when we got the technology to heat things up, we learned about mirrors and started making them! (www.explainthatstuff.com/glass.html) 2. Excellent point about Australia! There is no good reason England is "up" instead of "down" on maps. Some researcher's theorize that England and America were chosen as "up" is because we made the maps! So we got to put ourselves at the top and center. So it definitely makes sense to think that Australia would put themselves top and center in their maps, but when England colonized Australia it made them use English maps. Rosie you're actually right to some degree, different countries have different maps with different placements of the countries, generally they're all streamlined now (all countries having the same map) but there are still some that are different. Our streamlined map was created by westernised countries (USA geography society) and they're in the center of the map, generally different maps are made by Pacific countries and/or Easter (Asian) countries where they place themselves in the center of the map. So yes the placement can be different on an Australian made map (generally only the older ones though).
