    Yay✋ I'm getting my electric 3x4 Surfprep Kit, hose and attachments (in a few days) and used your coupon RAY10. After I've been getting your emails and understanding the different pieces I finally took the plunge, as I have quite a few big pieces to finish with lots of curves and edges. I'm sure it would save me so much time and energy (I'm 70 years young 😉😜) I also got a Ridgid 14 gallon shop vac.....I'm gonna need some help and advice from you ☺️☺️ But thank you for all the tutorials, tips and advice...you are great and inspiring!

    Your review is loaded with good information. Thank you! I just got my Surf Prep and was hoping you could clarify three questions. A simple yes or no for each would be fine to save you time. Some of the terminology is throwing me off. In reviewing the videos in the Q&A and on KZread, I'm wondering if SurfPreps' term "foam abrasives" refers to all of their pads - both the flat sanding pads AND the sanding pads with a cushy foam backing? It seems interchangeable in the various videos and literature - or I'm just misunderstanding. And when SP says "pad" that could mean both a regular flat sanding sheet or one with a cushy foam backing? And lastly, is the purpose of the interface pad to essentially create a cushy foam sanding pad that wraps around decorative edges while using a regular flat sanding pad? Sorry if my terminologies are wrong. Newbie here!

  • @ARayofSunlight

    @ARayofSunlight

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yay! Merry Christmas to you! The foam abrasives are just the sandpaper made with foam. The flat pieces are sheets and film I believe. They have them separated on their website so if you click around in their menu you can find what is what. The really thin interface pad is (I think) called the of saver. You should use it between the sander and the piece of sandpaper to help protect your sander from wearing out. The thicker interface pads will make the flat sanding sheets flexibility kind of like if they were the foam pads. But not quite as good. You can put a thicker squishy interface pad on the sander with a 1/2” foam pad to make it extra flexible. Hope that helps! Enjoy your new toy!

    @@ARayofSunlight thank you! Between this and the Wagner Flexio 5000 I got at the same time (you and I chatted about it recently except I referred to it as the 3000) I am set! And yes, Merry Christmas to me! Woot woot! I used my Surf Prep for the first time yesterday. It IS fun! I went through two foam pads quicker than I thought. I'm sure I'm in the learning curve. I'll get the hang of it soon. I particularly liked the green film sheets. They cut through old finish the best - better than the screen pad I tried. Thank you for responding to my questions. I know it's hard to find the time to do so. I really appreciate it!

    Buying through your links on your website. Question on using the shop vac. Are you using just the filter that came with it and then emptying the drum or are you using a dust collection bag? How are you emptying it out? Thanks!

  • @ARayofSunlight

    @ARayofSunlight

    Great question! I have a dust collection bag in mine along with the little bit better than basic filter. I’m not sure if that’s the right or wrong way to do it. But the dust all goes in the bag and I replace the bag when needed.

  • @ARayofSunlight

    @ARayofSunlight

    Hey Angelica. 1/2” is the thickness of the pad. The grits are how coarse or fine the pads are. You’ll want to get whichever grit you will use. I use medium and fine the most.

    Only one question. If it eliminates dust in the air and you can sand inside, why are you wearing a heavy duty mask (like I wear when I'm spraying)?

  • @ARayofSunlight

    @ARayofSunlight

    2 жыл бұрын

    good question! It doesn’t get all of the dust. But most of it. And since I do this so often, I just like to protect my lungs extra. And I don’t have a mask only for sanding. Haha so I just wear my spraying mask. (I don’t always wear it when I sand, but more often than not I wear it.)

  • @ARayofSunlight

    @ARayofSunlight

    Great question! There is a little bit of dust that doesn't get sucked up. It mostly stays on the surface that you are sanding. To most people it isn't an issue. But I sand and paint furniture constantly. So I am taking the extra precaution to protect my health.
