Caught Waikiki the day before Iniki hit. That was an ill wind, but man, the surf was legendary, places no one could remember breaking were going off, lines to the horizon, massive rooster tails, surfed till my arms were gone. South side does get epic now and then, fun when it does, hurricanes, not so much. Good to see it pumping, thanks!

West side of Big Island was epic the morning of Iniki... Swell lasted maybe 8 hours...

Hats off to you Jamie for taking a different path and making an awesome career out of free surfing , also thank you for the awesome videos keep them coming man . nothing but good vibes if everybody had the same outlook on life this world would be a better place …….. thanks again man just keep being yourself !

Waiks was FIRING!! Big ups to the Honolulu lifeguards saving lives that day!

This happened in the early 70s and we hit the trifecta: Surfed till 3, went to the Checkers and Pogo show, and finished the day with an Islanders ballgame. What a great time to be a kid🤙

Wow so PSYCHED to see you driving and watching the phone at the same time!! Def one of your more challenging maneuvers so far!!

I grew up surfing the bowl at Ala Wai boat harbor. Not Waikiki, but close. Great fun!

Biggest Town I ever saw/surfed was 2003. It was bigger than this for sure. There was full standup barrels unloading right on the beach at Waikiki in front of the Moana Surfrider. Would’ve liked to see what the other Town spots were doing. There’s probably other spots that would’ve been more fun.

@@thatonegrom9847 it was just Me, the Ghost of Larry Bertleman, and the Duke out there in the lineup. Queens was hitting 40 foot if not bigger. We were smoking crack and trading barrels. I hopped on Larry's board with him and we shared a 30 foot slab on the same board together ❤

This was by far the best swell in years in town!

The pink, black, and white stripes board resembles a magic stick. A fast magical board can fly anywhere on the wave.

I miss Ala Moanas!! 👍🤙

when it rains in town, all the water build up flushes out the Ala Wai canal. bowls is right outside of the river, so when it flushes out it goes straight to bowls. so its dirt, sewage, trash, sticks, and logs. easy to get sick when you go out after rain
