Garland Yep, ocean bouncers playing games with outdated equipment, who still insist councils help fund their organisation. I once went out surfing on a little sand bank on the Gold Coast, no one surfing the same bank. Had some great little waves until the bouncers came along with their boat. They continued to row out to sea and then come in within metres of me, the boat actually came in contact with me once. I was a little annoyed to say the least and asked them why could they not just do their business a few metres away from the bank, their reply was we always row out here. Yep, great sport, all under the banner of saving lives. Well, if they had that in mind why didn’t they paddle their huge boat clear of someone riding a 6’0” piece of foam and fibreglass? And why do they continue to allow “nippers” to go out without some sort of connection to their equipment....as in said nipper starts riding a wave, and due to incompetence fails, and their board continues onto shore wiping out anyone in it’s way. Surely an organisation who’s “sole purpose is to save people” (or is it) would not only insist their young ones wear bright Lycra, but also when actually in the water have a means to retrieve their board if lost? But no, and as you can see by viewing any videos on this organisation, you’ll see they are just a social club. And when viewing the older members you’ll see that they have been very social by their roof over the tool shed....many have not seen their toes for decades. And they continue to ask for more money. If they were solely an institution to save people in the surf, I could understand this. But they are not. So....”I love this sport”.... Well alternatively you could love surfing...as in actually knowing how to read a wave and surf it for fun, and not to get to the shore in the quickest time. Anyway, I’ve raved on enough. I’ll probably receive comments from the bouncers with their puffed out chests. All good. But I hope I’ve helped you out with you’re new loved “sport”.

@@WS_00 There's always going to be assholes. I don't doubt there are many in this sport as they are in every sport I've ever played. The sport is still rad though.

Garland.... lol law of sea says its up to u to get out of the way of anything bigger than you.... reason being it s not them that gets hurt but u

And you're seriously ripping on nippers who are just kids out in the ocean having fun? Please... tell us more about how fish shouldn't be in the ocean since it's your spot. "Why can't they just go somewhere else?" Yeah righto mate.

Timing is a big factor in success or failure.

The technique of stopping the rowing stroke as the wave hits the boat is the most frustrating thing I’ve ever seen. Always set your oars and take a powerful stroke as the boat hits a wave or white wash. Don’t stop the rowing stroke and essentially go DIW (Dead in the Water) when power, momentum, and kinetic energy is needed. Pull on those oars boys!!!

@@anthonyj7989 I have row boat in the surf on the Pacific coast of Southern California for over 30 years, and never once, with my Oar in the POWER phase of the stroke as I punched into a breaking, wave did it send me back to shore because the Oar was outside the boat. I have stated the obvious; when you are punching through a wave that has already been broken and crested , it is silly to me to leave the oars out of the water, not having any purchase or ability to punch the boat through the crumbling white wash. If you want to have a debate on the techniques of rowing in tSurf, I think I have more than enough experience to explain the question I posed.
