Surf Tips - How to get Barreled

The barrel, the green room, the pit, the shack, getting slotted, getting pitted, call it what you may, the barrel is the holy grail of surfing! Whether you've just got your first barrel or are a seasoned master of the pit, it will be the best feeling you've ever had in surfing, and possibly in your life! Why? Well that's harder to answer, but it's extremely addictive, and the sound and sensation of being surrounded by water and the way time slows down is second to no other!
There is only one real secret about getting barreled, and that is commitment! Really going for it and not bailing or closing your eyes in the barrel, oh and you'll need a barreling wave of course!
In this video I break the barrel down for you into the entry, the barrel, and the exit!
Please feel free to comment or ask questions below!

    I ride a 9'2 longboard single fin set right back lying down coz of fucked wrists. How do I stop being sucked up the face and rolled? It happens when I'm coming out of the tube. High line? Mid Face? Low line? Bury the inside rail more? Point the board at a 45 degree angle to the faceWhat's the best fin set up for my board for tubes?

    How can I lose the fear of the waves???????

  • @TicketToRideGroup

    @TicketToRideGroup

    6 жыл бұрын

    It's all about water confidence. Build up your fitness. Get into the pool, and swim some lengths, then push yourself underwater swimming and understand your own boundaries, you'll be amazed how long you can hold your breath for, and how short you actually get "wiped out" for. The key to a wipe out is to RELAX! When you get wiped out, relax, open your eyes, and don't try and scramble to the surface - let the wave's power move on, and then when you surface grab your board, and paddle off to the side so that you take yourself out of the impact zone. Then when you've got this dialled ask yourself the question "what am I actually afraid of?" You will never lose all your fear of the waves, but you should will be able to manage it, and help yourself overcome.

    Getting barreled is easy. You just have to know the wave you are surfing and put on the brakes when it sections.

  • @TicketToRideGroup

    @TicketToRideGroup

    6 жыл бұрын

    Haha Sub, I am intrigued at your definition of easy! It it were easy you wouldn't have to 'know the wave' and you don't have to, you 'just' read the shape of the wave to work out how and when it will barrel. No two waves are ever the same, even at the reef where a lot of this footage was filmed! Stoked to hear you're getting barrels!!
