SURF HELMETS? YES OR NO?
SHOULD SURFERS WEAR HELMETS AT PIPELINE? This is a really interesting topic to discuss as some are for, some against, with so many interesting questions.
1️⃣ Does wearing more protection make you feel more invincible and take more risks?
2️⃣ Does lack of protection force you to surf more conservatively and safer?
3️⃣ Does a helmet restrict your ability to surf effectively?
4️⃣ It doesn't seem common to hear about surfers getting saved by their helmet. Why is that?
Both Kala Grace & Billy Kemper were knocked unconscious at the backdoor shootout this year. One with a helmet, one without.
So what will the future of surfing Pipeline look like?

The moment when a man humbles himself to the knowledge that it's NOT just about him anymore. Good on ya, mate!!
It's a smart move and it's good that a few of the respected guys are accepting that hectic spots like pipe with its heavy waves and crowds warrant head gear. All the big names pushing safety like Jamie with the float wetsuit, Koa with the helmet and now Billy it'll make the saftey equipment far more socially acceptable.

I never wore a helmet skateboarding surfing or biking but now I'm 67 I do wear helmet biking ✌️

it's sort of like a bike you love the wind in your hair blowing and freedom but when you put on a helmet it takes away from that free feeling and I didn't wear a helmet till I who off my bike in an accident broke my ankle broke my toe and got a huge gash in my head and now I wear one but to each their own I understand both sides 🙏

Helmet on, smart way to go. Thé good look without a helmet won t matter when you look at your bleeding cracked head, in thé mirror…..at the hospital.

In the beginning of downhill mountain biking nobody wore a full face helmet. When I started wearing one the traditional mountain bikers said, "what do you need that for?" I said better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. 🫤
