Surf Fishing Solana Beach - San Diego Beaches Series

Today, we’ll be surf fishing Solana Beach for our San Diego Beaches Series. The purpose of this series is not to give away spots but to prove that you can literally catch fish up and down the entire coastline of San Diego and beyond. In this video, you’ll see yellowfin croaker, barred surfperch, and spotfin croaker. Check out the following links for info on San Diego Beaches to fish.

Nice spotfin Nick. The bars fade rather quickly but when I got my last one at San O I immediately noticed the distinct bars. So cool...

Thanks formthe tip on using a countdown from 20 to 1. I also feel the urge to reel my baits in a little too soon, especially if it gets pulled in closer to me by the wave. The countdown also aids in my use of meditation to clear the mind and enjoy the experience more.

Absolutely! In the winter tome near rocky structure you’ll get the big ones. Like 15-inchers. These two articles should help you: surffishingsocalsd.com/surfperch-fishing-to-heat-up-in-the-month-ahead/ surffishingsocalsd.com/surfperch-breeding-and-aggression-why-to-use-lures-in-the-spring/

Great video! So you wait a couple seconds before setting the hook right

Yes I like to wait until the taps get reallllly close together and your rod tip starts to bend over as you feel the weight of the fish. Then you set it

@@surffishinginsocal ahh is the first tap indicate fish just nipple at the bait? I always set mine on first tap and lose 🐠

@@iamalemontree yes if you feel tap………tap-tap……………tap. Don’t set the hook. It’s still feeling the bait. Once that turns into a “Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap-Tap!” And your rod starts to bend over as you feel the weight of the fish. Set it! Sometimes it takes 30 seconds… other times it’s immediate. You’ll get a feel for it.
