These new supro amps sound so great. Ive been a vintage fender guy my whole life, and these amps are the first time another amp manufacturer has been putting things out that made my ears perk up as improvements on the blackface formula.

A couple weeks ago I stumbled into a guitar shop with a whole pile of Supro's. I played nearly all of them but there was something special about the Amulet. I've been thinking about it ever since. I didn't even realize it was so new AND that my favorite guitar KZreadr had done a review until now. Thank you for this!

What a terrific sound! Nice playing, love the Tele w. Trem, too. I have noticed a few Supro reviews lately, specifically the Amulet and the funky looking small one. I'm happy with my old Blues Jnr. but been thinking about something new for the studio and this one goes to the front of the line . . . have been looking at Victory & Magnatone but, honestly, not sure if the price warrants a purchase. Thanks for a fun review!

Perfect timing! I'm shopping around for a Supro and/or Fender Champ. I have a Joyo "Sweet Baby" Champ clone which is totally decent, but memories of my long-sold Champ600 haunt my dreams. 1W is pretty loud! My Laney Cub12r has 15W and 1W inputs and the latter is enough for my neighbours to enjoy my Fuzz Freakout Fridays :) It won't rip on its own at reasonable bedroom volumes, hence the Fuzzies. I love my Fuzzes. How good are Brian Jonestown Massacre!! Anton Newcombe has still got it, he contributed a *killer* (hehe) track to the film "The Black Phone" with L'il Barrie on guitar. It's on KZread - "Backstage At The Budokan" is the song.

Takes em just fine. It's a bit on the dark side, so I just turn treble up a bit on my compression/gain pedals, which compensates, with bass on this kinda 35% and treble 50% on the amp. Dynamics on the pedals and using it for such sounds =way= better than my Vox AC10 or Fender DRRI did.

Great demo! I've been searching for a small tube amp for ages and they're just not easy to find. The best amp in my opinion was the Benson Monarch Reverb, but that one is expensive, probably way too loud and they even put a hold on the waiting list, so they're pretty unobtainable. The next amp I was interested in was the Princeton '65, but I don't like its edge of break up sound (although I'd probably use it clean anyway). But this Supro seems to tick all the boxes and I really like the sound. I'll have to try one myself before I make the wrong decision again. I sold a good amp and bought three amps that I basically can't use (for different reasons). But I'm interested. Very interested indeed. Thanks! I like your style by the way. 😎👍

Im the same, looking for low watt tube amps. I was lucky and got a marshall JCM1 mini stack, and then bought a Benson Vinny Reverb(amazing amp). Ive got my Dad's original 65 Princeton Reverb, but find the same problem. I want a combo amp that can get a good amount of dirt at low volume. The 2 best I've played so far are the Supro DK10 and the Vox AC4 HW. Ill have to give this one a try too!

I had a 100w Marshall JVM (that weighed about 30 kgs). I sold it for cash, brought a Supro Delta King 12 and never looked back. These amps sound GREAT. The tubes sound like they're on fire even at low volumes. I've done a bit of gigging with it, and they sound even better when cranked. Devastatingly good amps for a crazy good price. These Amulets look even better... might have to swap mine in and get this now!

(edit: sold after about a month - could not get over how bad the mids sounded and how it seemed to sound different every time I turned it on or how I had to adjust all the EQs when I'd change wattage). I just got one of these. 1 week in and it's interesting. I only ever have one amp. I think I like it. I had a Vox AC10 before - was just a noisy nightmare. Terrible reverb. Fender DRRI before that. Hated the mid scoop, and 22 watts was just too loud. This Amulet is very.. early Led Zep/Clapton. Each wattage gives the EQ it's own flavor, which is really interesting. It's almost like 3 amps in 1. The reverb/trem effects are great. All the knobs are really great, like 0-10 is no joke it makes a difference. Still trying to figure out what I like. I use a MXR timmy drive, and with the 5w, and some dip in the bass and high treble I am liking the sounds coming out. It is a bit.. "dark" I guess - mid centered, more so maybe than I'd love.. a mid dial would have been cool - but I'm still playing with knobs on the amp and the pedals and starting to get some real nice sounds. I've not had one I've had to experiment so much with, which I think is a good thing because there's so many sounds you can peruse out of it. I've also not played an amp with such a great response to actual playing.. the volume turns up your gain so much nicer than other amps I've used, and it reacts so effortlessly to how you play and pick. All good things. It's not Fender bright, it's more mids than a Vox, IDK. I like it so far. It's got it's own voice. I can get any other boring old amp sound out of Garage Band or what have you, but for a one amp guy I like having this unique voice with so many offerings.

@@dustinglass I actually sold it after less than a month I think and got a Princeton Reverb RI which is just loads better. It had a lot of issues, mostly having a very weird mids flavor that I couldn't EQ out, even with a JHS Ghost Mids parametric EQ, and I'm not an EQ or sound guy. It just sounded bad. Every time I turned it on, or especially if I changed the wattage, it'd sound different. I'd avoid.

Great sounding amp, but if you have to use an attenuator anyway to get good sounds at a reasonable SPL even on the 1W setting, it seems to sort of defeat the purpose of spending the extra $400 or so for this amp with built-in power attenuation compared to getting say a Supro Delta King 12. BIGGER. Supro's cabs are meatier than champs, so they feel less trashy (which I like too), more grindy.

@@EricHaugenGuitar Dang, my wallet was hoping you wouldn’t say that. The champ/Princeton trashy thing certainly has its place in mixes and rock history, it’s not my favorite for bedroom use.

I think built in attenuators are pointless tbh. They reduce headroom more than volume as decreasing wattage will only do so much. You could gig with 5 watts provided your speaker is efficient but you will not have any clean headroom. And 110 db at 1 watt is pretty crazy. It would be more ideal to have a master volume rather than an attenuator because you can actually choose the volume level while dialling in pre amp distortion which is the ideal part of the circuit to push. This is good for fuzz users

amp reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt. there is sooo much happening between the speaker on the amp being reviewed, and the ear of the viewer. alot of folks want a quiet amp they can play at home without disturbing others, yet still sound good. that's nearly impossible. to get that sweet sound, the speaker has to be pushing air, especially if you're playing rock or metal. you can get pretty good sounds with an isolation cab, but the real truth is, there is no substitute for loudness. attenuators, iso cabs, cab sims are all a compromise. you can tone chase until you have no money left to spend, but in the end, you're going to have to settle for "close enough"...whatever close enough is for you. that's not to say this isn't a good amp, or that the review isn't attempting to be as honest as possible. just know that the results you get trying to play quiet at home will be a compromise.

Have you experimented with 32 bit float recording? I wonder if you could avoid having to change your micropohone input gain and just change it in post - that's the promise anyway of something like a zoom F3 or sound devices mixpre.
