This was a fabulous record that should have given the Supremes their first #1 single but Motown was caught unawares with it and couldn't get the promotion behind it that was warranted for a veteran act finally at last breaking smooth. This song became one of my favorites and I actually bought the 45 in late 1963. The one bad thing about Motown records back then - they were too short! "When I'm Gone" by Brenda Holloway was just over 2 minutes and "Heatwave" by Martha and The Vandellas not much longer. Well, you solved that problem! Thanks!

I was eleven years old. My parents had given me my first transistor radio ( it was the equivalent of being given a smart phone now; it was so important for a kid to have one). One night, soon after, I was hiding under my blanket, in the dark, with my earphone in and I heard Cousin Brucie for the first time. I was stunned when he sent greetings to , "all you kids listening secretly, hidden under your blankets." I was so thrilled; I felt like I was a part of some family or club. Then he played this song and during the musical break, he kept roaring after the voice on the record. it was one of those nights I will never forget, but it was months before I found out what this song was and who performed it. Cousin Brucie had played a list of records and didn't tell me which song was which.

I am not stating Diana Ross had no talent, but to prevent others from attaining any fame, such as Florence Ballard is a burden she will be accountable for..

🥰 Yes...Loved this song way back then....Still Love It Today.💞 I was a senior in high school when this wonderful song became a Popular Hit.💞
My brother bought this single and we both played it on the stereo over and over.
This was a fabulous record that should have given the Supremes their first #1 single but Motown was caught unawares with it and couldn't get the promotion behind it that was warranted for a veteran act finally at last breaking smooth. But I don't know anyone who heard this who didn't think the Supremes were poised at last for a monster career. Thanks for the terrific edit and the visuals.
The Funk Brothers really made this song great!
Mark....yes you CAN say "supremely"...(*smile). Thank you, my friend!!!
Florence Ballard is very gorgeous, such a shame that she never got a chance to lead.
And now a treat,, ladies take it away with your fine self’s, soaring through those notes with grace and ease. Simply amazing girls! What taste, style, that choreography marvelous talent, and beauty. Love, Bill. As we well know they are Supreme. This reminds me when I first met my future wife. She just kinda ignored me at first. She didn’t know I’d picked her out already. Nearly forty years ago now.
I clicked on this video ten years ago and became an instant Mosogotam fan. Just found out he died of Covid in April of 2020. Rest in peace and thanks for all the joy you've brought to all us Motown fans!
One of their earliest and best augmented by well considered remix- nicely done. Love happy snappy songs such as this framed by such incredible talent, charm, and loveliness. Diana's voice is truly incredible even after all these years, incomparable.

I can remember this song from the 60s riding in my mother and father's car going to Whitecastle's, The waitresses putting the basket on the car window, nickel hamburger, Vietnam war news on the radio, Sadly those were better times...
I could live on this song throughout the night.Miss Ross, you sing to the discarded segments that rise. We hear and sing and dance with you.
In this early song you can really hear Flo and Mary, sometimes they over-power the lead, I love it! - As time went on their backgrounds were slowly tuned down and at times barely could hear them - awful shame.

A great song, indeed with Motown's trademark horns! You have to remember that this is BEFORE their songs were considered "crossover." This was more of a regional hit. It would have been played on black stations. Remember it was released in 1963.

Great presentation of my favorite girl group of all time
Flo and Mary create the divine wind and Diana is the wings
love the extended Supremes mixes for my radio show - around the typical 3mins is never anywhere enough
I love it! Such a fun extended version of the song. It’s such a great song to begin with, hinting at the explosion in popularity that was about to happen for Mary, Flo, and Diana.
When you have all this doom and gloom on 4-5-2020 all you need to do is watch this and it'll put a smile on your face
all of the classics can never be dupucated never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Despite the B&W it's evident Flo and Mary are not only very pretty in this one but also so nicely formed - goddesses ;-)

@RogerWilcoSh…What do you mean Mary & Flo are not pretty in this b&w video!? Implying blame it on the footage or the did it on purpose to make them look bad! Well for your information my black queens looks good weather it’s b&w footage or color…!
oh yeah and this happens to be my favorite supremes song
Thumbs up on these extended versions of Motown.
Nothing but praise for your work on this recording. VERY nice job. Thank you.
I agree mosogotam should be recruited by Motown ( amongst others...) to remix a good deal of their catalogue. Really liked this one too John although it's not one of their very best, but great to dance too...went down a storm on the northern soul circuit. For its time it was brilliant. Thanks John.

This is the best remix of this gem of a Supremes song! Their first top 40 hit (it peaked at #23) would have been number one had this version been released. Mogosotam, where were you in 1963-64? Great mix and great video presentation! YOU ROCK Mogosotam!
I grew up on this music, grew up in the 60s n 70s these songs will never get old to me.
Happy Birthday to Diana Ross of the Supremes Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕!

Love your extended mixes, mosogotam, and I think this is your best! I'm old enough to remember when "Lovelight" first came out by an unknown new group, The Supremes. Thanks!
Awesome extension John.......heard somewhere that the Four Tops were on this recording also doing back up
It should have been a hit flying off the charts
Greatness!!!

Very underrated song and you did a wonderful job!! 💃🏽 PLEASE DO RUN, RUN, RUN by the Supremes!!! My fav💃🏽
Pure magic
Super Terrific ! I can see and hear the love that was put into this. Love the re-mix
The girls, as well as HDH, had tried and tried for a hit. This one came out in '63, one year before their first hit Where Did Our Love Go. This should have been the first.
Oppression sadly and wonderfully releases the soul to sing freedom. How absolutely beautiful for what blacks endured in my country as well as my own people. It's ashame the country of my my birth with is so amazing one has to fight for their human rights and dignity. This woman sings as well as The Supremes and I'm about a fifty click by now. We hear you and understand you.

Love this song & I was not even born when it came out !!!
Hardly one of their biggest, but one of their best. Enhanced by mosogotam as only he can. Funk Bros. are prominent with Mary & Flo accompanying even better than the Andantes - which is high praise. The Magic of Early 60s Motown.

Beautifully rendered. It was around the time of my conception this Love Light kindled a rhapsody my mothers members; an eye which made manifest my best side.
I watched Ms. Diana Ross at the Appollo Theatre Live performances! 1962 The Supremes were the Primemettes! Bernard Hendricks
This is my country and I'm so proud of Her, She is My Mother and Miss Ross, thank you for what you contributed to our country as well as your ladies. Sing it Woman!
Theirs never been a groove like this before and after this song

My 1st time hearing this song. Going to blast it in my car in the morning on my way to work. 🤘

As a man that happens to be, I hear your pain and my people sing with you! SING IT. And my people now have marriage and we're with you!
