1983 ... Dancefloor, this track, best time ever! ❤
40 years later and STILL one of my favourites, it just proves that good vibes never die!
S.o.s baseline was one of the toughest ever in any band. That vocal range of the lead singer, her scratchy intoxicating voice, wow, one of my all time favourite groups.

Nothing scratchy about her voice. It’s smooth as silk.
If you've never heard this on a huge set of bass speakers , you haven't heard this song .

I believe it’s the quality of speakers not the size. I’ve heard big speakers that sound terrible, while on the other hand I’ve listened to smaller quality speakers that sound amazing, but very expensive. Add a sub and the required bass is evident

The 80's were the best!!!! So many memories from music!!!
That bass intro was like dropping the bomb! Brilliant song and band. If only we had music like this today. x
Used to cruise the hood as kids blasting this til you felt that bass move through your soul. We partook in the flowers back then but mostly our group was hard sports. Im talkin freshman piitching 90mph fast ball. Hoop/FB. But cruising to this and mixes like it put us on that "natural high" that we didn't get and I havent had it again since. Although it brings back ALL the chill memories. This was 84 when you settled it with a fist fight and then forgot a bout it. Jumped back in the whip and busted out with Cutie Pie. Peace.
This is what the 80s sound like in my memory
One of the greatest songs of all time!
This Soul /Funk at its best im 77 now in 2024 and it moves me every time I hear it,the bass riff is excellent the drums iconic and the voices terrific

I'm 35. As a young child I heard this song. I never knew who did it but I always wished I did. I've literally had this tune randomly stuck in my head all my life. I heard it today, googled the lyrics and found this. I'm totally baffled. I've literally been waiting as long as I can remember to hear this song. God is real.

I was a young teenager when this song came out and I had just gotten into the R and B/Funk scene of music. The base and rhythm just blew me away. I would play it over and over on a cassette walk man player with headphones on in my bed at night before going to sleep. Became one of my all time favorite songs and still is. It always brings me back to that much more innocent time in life when things were still new, there was still so much to come and discover in life..........

Me too...probably the best era I've lived In 80s were just full of good times 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Crazy how my parents are from Mexico, so I grew up in a Mexican household and I still embraced R&B music . Glad that I grew up in a diverse neighborhood Black n Brown South Side Richmond Easter Hill California . Shot out to the 80’s 90’s And all the OG’S.

Not crazy to me @el champeon. Good music is good music. Also I think radio stations played more variety then. I grew up in a Black American family outside of Seattle and mostly everyone was Swedish or Norwegian descent. We listened to everything back then. Rock, Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers, Bob Denver, and all kinds of R&B music. I was a little kid, but oldest bro and sister were teens during this era. I remember opening my window so that I could listen to the teenagers conversations and their music. My siblings didn't want their little sisters around them all of the time. We had to follow along in secret. Ha!

That intro has pumped me up for almost 40 years!
after hearing many version this one is the best
The sound of early 80s nightlife right there, the great vocals, heavy beats, rhythm most done with a brilliant Roland TR-808 drum machine. This is one of the greatest dance songs of that era. SOS were a very special band, the musicians were so talented, and the glorious voice of Mary Davis ❤
