Superstar Communist Slavoj Zizek is The Most Dangerous Philosopher in the West

Ойын-сауық

We travel to Ljubljana, Slovenia, to meet superstar Communist philosopher and cultural theorist Slavoj Zizek. The "most dangerous philosopher in the West" talks about his new film, The Pervert's Guide to Ideology, and lectures us on the importance of being on time. If you're curious about that poster of Stalin on his wall, it's "purely to annoy idiots" when they visit.

@@FnafTeamESPANA They are using different definitions because left and right are relative to your political landscape, which is why it is not a globally useful discription. Slavoj is a leftist from Yugoslavia, meaning that he is anticapitalist in what is now a hypercapitalist (hyper rightwing) environment. As an American leftist, I am also anticapitalist, but will often hear procapitalist liberals describe themselves as being 'on the left' because our Overton window is further to the right and we've never had widespread anticapitalist sentiment here. The liberal wants to regulate 'predatory capitalism' but leftists view capitalism itself as predatory and want to move beyond it, though the solution is not agreed upon across the wide spectrum of leftists.

I saw Slavoj Zizek at a grocery store yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Snickers in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I saw Slavoj Zizek at a Border's bookstore in Virginia a few years ago. It was weird because he wasn't actually inside, he was on a bench outside eating one of those Libby's 6 lb aluminum cans of sweet corn with a fork. I asked him what he was doing and he said I should "respect his intolerance towards my over-proximity" and winked at me with both eyes. Idk if over-proximity is even a word. It was a pretty surreal experience. When I came out of the store he had fallen asleep and spilled the can of corn all over himself and was practically being eaten alive by seagulls and his shoes were nowhere to be found.

I like the part about communist thinkers and Zizek having a sense of humor, because figures like Marx, Lenin, and more have some sick burns they dish out in their thesisies - sometimes, they are legitimately funny some of their lines, and they wrote it well, because 100, 150 years later, the little comic relief jokes hit well, because they explain the background. Humor and leftism has a strong, long standing history ^^

I saw Slavoj Žižek at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

***** *_For Marx in one of his letters to Engels stated his opinions about "thinking" and "doing something important: to change the state of things with praxis". Paraphrasing Marx: "I have to think that thinking too much is usually an obstacle to act." Engels stated: "A gram of Praxis worths more than a ton of theories". It is usual in our time: the motto of our time is: "Think too much non productive ideas until you're unable to act". Watch Zizek video called "Don't act, think!" If a revolution blows up in europe, i'm sure i will find Zizek in a coffeshop (read my other comment here) thinking his same unproductive ideas one over again, with no possible end. His main problem is not to solve the question of ideas and praxis. Organizing and Acting solve mental issues and vicious ideas: This is the most perfect comprehension of Marx's theories and praxis, and of his 11 thesis on Feuerbach._*
