Look, I agree with you on some things. Yes, Dean does treat sam badly sometimes. But Sam is "too good" for him? No, that is not true. Dean does love Sam, and vice versa. You can see it in Dean selling his soul, in Sam still hating tuesdays, and in Dean building a life with lisa and ben just because *Sam asked him to*. Also, never forget that Dean was made into the blind soldier slowly, but surely, starting from age 4. Remember what you did in that age? Probably learned not to eat everything and draw on the walls. And now, can you draw on a wall? It feels unnatural, right? Can you eat a small lego? Of course not, it's dangerous. Those are things that stay with you forever, that you never forget. And what you learned during those early years is what now you consider trivial. Four year old Dean started learning that obeying his father was the way to survive and that he should take care of Sam no matter what. *THIS* is what Dean considers trivial. When he's wrong, you may see it, I may see it, but he doesn't. "But Sam wasn't a blind soldier! If you were right, he would be worse than Dean! He was only six months old when Mary died" Now *that* is what I call a stupid argument. Let me remind you that Dean was essentially raised by John. John was the one who taught Dean everything I mention above. But Sam was mostly raised by Dean. And he wasn't a blind soldier because Dean did his best to keep his little brother from growing up too soon, from joining the hunter's life completely at a very young age, like Dean. That is how Sam got his "own opinion". So, don't say that Dean is a dick. he is just doing what he was raised to do, and he comes across as an asshole on the process. But remember: Dean isn't always a dick Sam isn't always a saint And let's just take a moment to travel back to s5, when Dean's Heaven was memories of him, Sam and Mary, and Sam's Heaven was memories of the times he ditched his family. Last, but not least, seriously? So, in your opinion, anyone who likes Dean is a shallow girl, who just likes Jensen Acles's face? I liked Dean long before I saw his face. I have a friend who was always 1-2 seasons ahead of me. That means, she started the show before me. And she made me love Dean, even though any phrase near the meaning of "he's so hot" never left her mouth, and she's a hardcore Sam girl. Don't judge just because people disagree with you.

TheMrsilverscott how do you even watch the show when you hate one of the main characters so much? Dean is such an interesting and a deep character and Jensen portrays him so well, people who love Dean don’t just want to fuck Jensen so no bringing up his looks is a stupid ass argument. Everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect, Dean is flawed and so is Sam and don’t expect these characters to be perfect when even angels are imperfect in this show. Dean was taught like a soldier and was taught to protect his little brother before anything since he was 4. FOUR. John was emotionally abusive and put too much on Dean’s shoulders from such a young age and it’s not Dean’s fault that John was a shitty parent, and don’t even say anything about John being a good parent because we all know Bobby would’ve done so much better. Dean put Sam before everything in his life and has sacrificed so much and is still willing to sacrifice anything for Sam because of the way he loves him and the way he has been protecting him his whole childhood is the reason why he is so clingy towards him. Dean and Sam obviously have different personalities and just because Dean has a more submissive nature and Sam is more of a rebel doesn’t mean that Dean is a bad character. Dean is very kind and always puts others first and he has been through so much that it’s clear why he has got so many issues. At the end of the day, even when he treats Sam like shit he obviously thinks about keeping him safe first even if it is not what Sam wants and yes it is shitty and Dean doesn’t realize that but everyone has their own flaws. I don’t understand how people hate Dean because he is such a kind character with a heart of gold and sure he has got some issues but it is what makes Dean Dean and Jensen portrays him perfectly. You can’t say that Sam is too good for him because that is some fucking ass bullshit they’re brothers and the main thing that keeps this show going is their brotherly love and how much they love and care about each other and if you don’t see that you clearly just miss the whole point and watch the show for some ass kicking fights.

TheMrsilverscott Why the hell do you even watch the show if you hate Dean so much? Sam isn't always perfect either. They both have their own flaws and issues. I love Sam just as much as I love Dean, but there are some choices Sam made that I didn't like, like when he chose Ruby over Dean. There are times when I've felt sorry for Sam because of how hard Dean is on him sometimes, but I felt sorry for Dean when that happened. Like I said, I love both of them, but he chose a demon over his own brother. Dean sold his soul and died to save Sam, and he chose a demon over him. I think it's understandable that Dean would've felt a little betrayed.

Labelling Sam as selfish for being an intelligent, critical thinker with an independent mind that questions what is told to him, was an issue with the show, as it was morally questionable from a didactic point of view. This idea that he who is an independent thinker, a critical mind that stands up against what he see's as being fundamentally problematic, is "bad". This religious obedience that a believer must never question god, and as such he who does is a sinner, has really affected our social approach in terms of how we treat those who are not blind followers - those who question and think for themselves. Historically, those who question the status quo, many in pursuit of righteousness and fairness, were always condemned for questioning authority. In the same light, those that dare to question in modern society, are given the epithets of "difficult", "controversial", "the black sheep." The notion that blind obedience = good is a plague that has destroyed society in copious ways, and it was a theme I did not enjoy in the show. The show could have used this trope opportunistically, to show how rebellious characters, with virtue and intelligence, are fundamental to change - to discuss the courage it takes to defy authority, whether it be, as is in this case, your emotionally abusive father (John), or your corrupt boss or establishment. It is not a sin to say no, nor to question, nor to be the purveyor of your own destiny. It takes strength, courage resilience and a critical mind. The reason we as humanity have evolved to modern society as we have, was because others before us questioned and defied the norms. In the same light, it was Sam's defiant character and desire to shape his own destiny that lead him to say no to both his father, and Lucifer. It was this spark that helped him save the world. He said *NO.* And this is why Sam for me, was the most complex and fascinating character, as well as the most righteous character of the show
