Hah! Good one! All about the fun. Ive had KTM dirtbikes since a very long time ago. A 1976.5 250 GP model was the first...Had the 420, the 495, then on up into modern times with various 300's, 200's and on and on. Had an early Lc4 SC 620....an animal of a bike. Now Ive got the 890R and just grabbed up a barely used 2021 690R enduro......................way too much fun! Even though its an enduro it can go like stink on the road, around 110mph things can get a little whippy, not the best idea. Such a fast civilized Lc4 compared to the earier models. 75mph is easy for a long time.

Fantastico! Love the skills shown there Chris. So I know I am alternative in that I don’t really do wheelies or backing-in but I love the pure agility and control on any road the 690 rewards you no matter how twisty it gets. I prefer to buy the Enduro-R instead of the SMCR as it gives me that extra market to re-sell to and ability to deal with the rougher terrain and where I live that can be on country lane. I wouldn’t use the backing-in software and my Enduro-R just has a bigger power punch you feel in the seat than the 698 I tried.

That final test was exciting! got me in the hooligan mood 👊🏻✊🏻😂
Dude what an awesome video, you were having so much fun and i felt like i was right there with you
Gotta love you work😎 Looking forward to Ducati Adv off this motor… still loving my Hypermotard 927 SP.. Thanks for sharing 👌
Must say, in the backing in challenge, the Ducati's rear end was bouncing around, while the KTM was smooth and stable... ..so that should have been a KTM win. But then again im a KTM fanboy, so... ...anyway, good effort from Ducati for their first supermoto, but i'll take the KTM pls :D Fun review as usual!

Chris did give it to the Ducati for the backing in control, so anyone can have a go.
Now _that's_ a test! You've got to hand it to Ducati - when they enter a new market, they don't do it by halves! The Multistrada went head to head with the GS, the Diavel rewrote the cruiser sector and now this new single. I know they don't actually have much in common, but it'll be interesting to see how the 450 MX bike does in competition.
Another fantastic vid! Interesting place for filming. Accessible for public?!
The best test ever! What an awesome job.
I was giggling just sitting on my couch. Great fun 👍🏼🍻
You seem to get better and better Chris! (at riding and reviewing) KTM all day for me.
Smiling the entire video, jealous of chris' ability on the bike but so sick to watch!
This is the one the world has been waiting for! Chris the hoonage master in his element! Ducati for me! 👍
Great review. I felt that the Ducati had to win this test. However, when I was looking at the footage, you were waaay more confident and seemed to be a better rider on the KTM. In short, KTM seemed to be the better sumo. Confisence inspiring, allowed you to jump, back it in properly and enjoy the fun that only sumos can provide.
Chris just prfection, your videos are awesome when are you getting the Ducati :)
Great video! Two years ago I bought my second 690 SMC R (Euro 4) to accompany my 690 SMC (Euro 3). I know exactly why 💪
Awesome review, next up Ducati 698 vs KTM 690 Duke? I'm more road oriented and the Duke leaves a Husky 701 in the dust there, the rake on the Ducati looks like a big factor in it's off-road handling, so road wise I think it would be another good match-up.
My SM hero was Stephane Duchene (france) in 2001, rolling in a Pulk of Supermotard Monsters at the time. 1. Thierry van den Bosch (FRANKREICH), KTM. 2. Achim Trinkner (Löchgau), Husqvarna. 3. Eddy Seel (BELGIEN), Husqvarna. 4. Klaus Kinigadner(ÖSTERREICH), KTM. 5. Jens Hainbach (Schotten), Husaberg. 6. Jürgen Künzel (Heidenheim), KTM. 7. Stephane Duchene (FRANKREICH), Husaberg. 8. Rudy Versteeg (NIEDERLANDE), KTM. 9. Hannes Maxwald (ÖSTERREICH), KTM. 10. Dirk Spaniol (Illingen), Suzuki. 11. Michael Schneider (Eltville), Suzuki. 12. Mika Sironen (FINNLAND), VOR. 13. Meik Appel (Breitenrode), KTM. 14. Dani Müller (SCHWEIZ), Yamaha. 15. Roger Bantli (SCHWEIZ), KTM.
awesome vid! damn you were flying on the final stretch. I'm sticking with team 701
Have been waiting for this comparison ever since Chris reviewed 698 earlier.. not every rider will be able to off-road and jumps like Chris did, but I don’t think any other reviewer did this yet.. by far my favourite reviewer….
It appears the mirrors grew back! Do other parts do the same? Very handy.
I suppose the 698’s frame is not engineered for jumping 😅 Because the SMCR‘s frame is used for the enduro too, it seems to be more suitable for that offroad parts.
Hah!
I’ve been waiting for this video.
Thanks for this review!
Went from a succession of Gsxr's to a Supermoto wish id have done it years ago never had anything that just makes riding so hilarious ❤
Traded in my 690 SMC on my Gen2 SDR. I really do miss the supermoto. First world problem.🍊
Love this! Great fun! The Ducati looks best but I'd definitely go for the KTM for all the reasons you said 👍
Great bikes, great review!
0:31 Amazed he wasn't completely wiped out by those clibbins
Will watch later this evening , but I will leave you with this question , which one would you prefer to have if you had to work on it , and why?

Thats an easy one. The KTM is already a known quantity so it is easier to find parts and find people with experience. Not that the Ducati wont get there, but at this moment the KTM 690 should be easier to figure out since other people already know about its quirks
Really enjoyed that. I’m interested in both bikes, one of which to replace my 2023 street triple 765 rs.
Fantastic review. Both are great bikes. Please, which part of the world did you film this contest?

@@BikeWorldTVshowI thought it was Angelsey circuit at first but the yellow signs tell me its somewhere else, in the interest of public safety I’d rather people didn't go there. Visit Pembrey circuit to see when they open the track and mx section for supermoto fun.
And the mirrors are still there😅
I love your test. Hello from french guyane ✌️
as usual, top notch. not at the conclusion yet..
It was a concept in my mind when I was about 16, then I got the DT175 at 21 and I knew what I really wanted. 22 years later, I bought the SXV550 Motard. Best bike I ever owned fun wise, and I have had a few. 😇
By far the best thing here was the playground you chose :D
Been waiting for this
Can you teach us how to do a skid into the turn? It looks so cool.
Give this man a raise!
Hey you better go find that rubber foot peg insert before you take the bike back to Ducati or they'll charge you 120 quid for a new one!

Which one leaks the least amount of oil?
@pauln6803
23 күн бұрын
That's easy: tge Ducati when it throws a rod. The 690 burns too much oil to leak.
This is how these bikes should be tested. Well done!
Brilliant Chris. Thank you 😂😂😂😂
too much fun ! got a 23 smcr . doees the duck come with quickshifter and wheelie control or is it an option $?
@Chris71920
23 күн бұрын
QS is standard on the RVE and an option on the "standard" model. Wheel control is standard, but wheelie-assist is only available as a "race" option packaged with a Termi exhaust at around £2000!
You LOOKED BETTER on the KTM on the sketchy stuff. I’m an MX and hare scramble kinda guy and so the KTM would be my pick. That said, I totally love Italian machinery…
Finally a supermoto comparison done the proper way and I'm glad the KTM is the winner. 😂
Neither would suit me but love the idea of them. Great watching bike being ridden at this skill level though. Class.
Brilliant review. Doing exactly what you should be doing on these awesome bikes. Isn't the KTM a lot cheaper as well?
@Robbiemoto
23 күн бұрын
Slightly cheaper than the base model but alot cheaper against the RVE.
great review.. having ridden both bikes and owning a 698 you won’t be disapointed by either of them 👍🏻👍🏻
You have one of the best jobs in the world !!!
I love ducati but every time I go to buy a bike I buy another one🤔... usually the ktm wins so it must be love ❤ really great review👍👏🍀
Are the mirrors harder to remove or cheaper on the Ducati?
Superb review!
KTM looked a lot smoother backing in IMO ? in fact it looks smoother in general full stop. Where did you film this btw, looks epic ?? :D You should have put them both on the dyno to finish this test IMO :D
How did you find the wheelie assist on the Ducati? Supposed to help keep the wheelie up. Would that help over doing it manually?
had the 690 awesome, gonna wait for the new DRZ600SM mext year if its gonna come out, can't wait..........
What inside leg do you have Chris? I am trying to work out if these are too tall.
The slide looked lot more smooth on the rear on KTM though
A supermoto with wheelie control, lol, what's happened to us?
Supermotos are the best! I have a 950 sm and it just makes me laugh every time I ride it. That’s priceless.

2 perfect bikes, perfect review perfect location!
My favorite motorcycle reviewer.
would you choose one of these or the hyper 950 :D ?
That Ducati reminds me of Count Duckula!
Great test chris
Brilliant (I say that as a 690 enduro r owner)
Bro, where do you live!? Open space, roads to yourself, cliffs, ocean (I assume) amazing!
Ridden both, would own either, but a Ducati with spoke wheels would be in my garage !
The big test is WHICH one is the first to a 'Warranty' issue that the Manufacturer either refuses to fix....or makes you wait for an eternity. 🤔 another close one
No matter what I love all sumo related bikes which make the bike world greener indeed🌳
Two supermotos to flog on private roads. This has to be 'peak' Chris..
Been waiting for a comparison and who better to do one than you guys
