    Bennie... there were two track in that movie that I thought were beyond genius. The soundtrack for home and the french horn opening of Superman. You nailed home and I'll take the opening to 78 Supes. But mixed together with a little extra sugar... out of this world my friend. Kudos on hitting it perfectly. Thank you.

    @Graeme McFee Are you referring to people who bash with Bibles, or people like you who bash Bible believers? Justin Jack was just being honorable to Mr. Reeve in his own way. Even the idea of Superman is implicitly Messianic. On the first page of a Superman comic where he had died there were the words, "Once upon a time, there was a perfect man who came from the sky and did only good." Jor-El sending his only son to Earth to be its greatest hero easily could be inferred to the idea of Jesus Christ, or at least to Christians and some Jews, the coming Messiah. The concept of an ideal person to look up to and emulate is a strong and noble thing to believe, admitting that you are not perfect and striving to be better is a very sensible frame of mind, if not likewise honorable.

  • @justifan

    @justifan

    @Graeme McFee Naw, it's just a glitch in Facebook kept me from seeing the additional posts. As for fantasy, the idea of the Biblical God is actually very scientifically sustainable. The idea that the Bible has hundreds of historical and scientific inaccuracies as far as I can see falls short, as I have myself studied hundreds, and have resolved at least 90% percent of them, some of the remaining I have asked actual professionals and they were able to clarify the inconsistencies. The hateful fantasies ironically seem to be coming from the skeptics.

    @@david9243The funny thing is, there probably was a person out there who may have been a hundred or thousand times more heroic than Christopher, but was so humble that we never knew his name, maybe with a name like Edger Wifflehoffer, who was never celebrated here, but whose righteousness and selflessness was greatly rewarded in heaven.

    This music will always, always belong to Christopher Reeve. I don't care what anyone says, this is his theme. He was always an optimist, but after his accident he became the living embodiment of what Superman himself represents. Hope. He even said "Once you choose hope, anything is possible", which is definitely something I can picture Superman saying.

    I totally believe that last part. Superman is the embodiment of the unbelievable for someone like Batman. Someone with all that power and all he wants to do is help people and stand for what's right. Superman is everything a politician isn't but convinces enough people that they are for a short while

Without him and his many iconic film scores, we not only wouldn’t have believed Superman could fly, but also; the shark in Jaws would not have worked, there’d be no galaxy far far away from a long time ago, Indiana Jones wouldn’t have defeated the Nazis, E.T. would not have made it home and dinosaurs would still be extinct!

    That movie was a huge success because of 2 people. John Williams and Christopher Reeve. Williams, in my opinion, did his best work for the Superman movie, and Christopher Reeve was the best actor ever to play the iconic role. He is, and will forever be, the benchmark that all actors who play Superman are judged against. No other actor, who's played a super hero, is so overwhelmingly agreed upon by the majority of people to be the best. If you ask people who the best Batman was, you'll get a bunch of different answers. You ask who was the best Superman, and 90% say Reeve. I think the next closest person would be Robert Downey Jr., as Iron Man. Nobody will ever play Iron Man better than Downey Jr. I know this is my opinion, by I think most people would agree. It would have been so cool if Christopher Reeve could have played the part with today's special effects. Given the fact that the original Superman movie still holds water today, despite the use of 70's special effects, is because of Reeve.

    That solo trumpet at the beginning takes me to a place of majesty and wonder and the way the brass section then picks it up and carries it is a thing of awe. The choral interludes.....joy......I could go on all night!

    I watched these when I was younger with my dad (late 80s early 90s). And hadn't had watched them again till last week. This theme alone made me feel so much nostalgia to the time when I was with my dad. He's no longer with me. He was my superman.

    I listen this when I try to remember feelings. I’ve grown so disconnected from the rest of the world. My dogs are aging. They don’t have many years left. I don’t think I do either. I love trying to remember a younger, hopeful Trey. I try to remember the Trey that wanted to help people, that loved humanity and all we can be. It’s harder every day.

    Just when I thought that John William's Superman Main Theme could not be made even better, I am given the majestic Krypton Theme as the perfect introduction to it. Then to give it that subtle choral emphasis, Man of Steel-style. Brilliant. This is magical, thank you!

    I know of NO other movie score that was ever used in other movies, or even tv series, on the same subject. That speaks of its effectiveness, its power, and now even 44 years after it first appeared it is still being used in other superman movies. i remember the first movie as clear as day . i turned 20 in 1978 and this was utterly electrifying when i saw it that year
