Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Do you worry that you're not liked
How long till you break
You're happy cause you smile
But how much can you fake
An ordinary boy, an ordinary name
But ordinary's just not good enough today
No, a woo oo
Ow, a woo oo
Ow, a woo oo
[Pre-Chorus]
Alone x7
I'm thinking
[Chorus]
Why-eieieie yeah, is Superman dead
Eieieie, yeah, is it in my head?
Eieieie, yeah, we'll just laugh instead
You worry about the weather
Whether not you should hate hate hate
[Verse 2]
Are you worried about your faith
Kneel down and obey
You're happy you're in love
You need someone to hate
An ordinary girl, an ordinary waist
But ordinary's just not good enough today
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Pre-Bridge]
No, a woo wo
Ow, a woo wo
Ow, a woo wo
Why-eieieie yeah x4
[Bridge]
Doesn't anybody ever know x3
That the world's a subway, subway
Doesn't any, any, any, any, any
That the world's a subway, subway, HIE

Besides being a completely awesome song that I can't stop listening to, does anyone realize what an insanely great job the drummer is doing. The guy has a small kit and most of the fills are being done on the snare. Plus the rhythm is not even a steady beat. It's like the main rhythm is a string of small fills. Really terrific job. I'm not sure who this guy is, but I'm sure he's underrated.

This song is very unique because the chorus has like 2-3 different parts including a build up in the middle. And then for chorus 2, 1 of the parts goes out of order. Very creative, I don't see many bands do that.

It’s a bit different, but it might be more of a switch-up than a punch-up, if you know what I mean. A similar, probably more common trick that works to punch up a song is to drop the prechorus from the final chorus. (The only example I can think of right now is “Oh” by Sleater Kinney.) Another good one with some switches is Flyer by Skating Polly.
I listen to speed metal, thrash, prog metal, super heavy stuff. But there is something about this song and there always was that puts it in my top 200 or so favorites of all time. I cannot describe what it is.
I love this song. I ain't herd it in years and the only rock station doesn't play it. I remember having one station when I was a teen that only played grunge x106.3 it was fn amazing... I miss the nineties

When bands like (Our Lady Peace) are no longer active you truly know that Superman Really Is Dead. . 😕🤘
Quote from Raine Maida about the song Superman's Dead: "It's just about how hard it is for kids to grow up today. They're inundated with the media and images and cliques they try to have to fit into. Two images that are really strong for me lyrically are ordinary's just not good enough today,' and when I think of kids today, I would never think of a group of eight year olds going out to a baseball park and throwing the ball around. It doesn't happen any more. I have a nine year old brother; he's either inside playing Nintendo or staying up late on a school night watching Beavis & Butt-Head. And you juxtapose that against the old Superman, on the black and white series. He was a real hero, good values, strong willed, a gentleman, but I think Beavis & Butt-Head wins today." (Talking about the song "Superman's Dead" from the album "Clumsy")
