Here's my Superman trilogy. (Side note: this trilogy is tied to a much larger and better connecting DC cinematic universe than we've ever had) The first movie would be an origin story, but it takes place one year after he's given the name Superman by Lois and the main villain is Project Cadmus and General Eiling. Lois, Clark, Jimmy, and Perry are the main characters with Superman and his parents being side characters, as the premise of the movie is the dual nature of Clark's life as a superhero and a regular person. The conflict of the movie is centered around the premise of Superman destroying an opposition force and also a US military battalion in the process when he interfered and stopped a US backed coup in Southeast Asia. Eiling and Cadmus create mechs to fight Superman and they find him in an uninhabited desert for the big act 3 showdown. The fight makes its way to a middle east city where Superman has to go all out to save the city and the people. The movie ends with a headline in the daily planet announcing not only Superman saving the city, but a small headline reports news from Gotham about Batman beating the Riddler. In the second movie, this movie introduces Lex Luthor as the main villain, but this movie is when we introduce Rudy Jones as Parasite and John Irons as Steel. After a year and a half long time skip, Lois learns Clark is Superman while on a date with Clark. Rudy is a petty thief who gets caught trying to steal from LexCorp with his crew in act 1 when they try to steal some canisters. Luthor is there, overseeing the shipping docks and orders his security to terminate the thieves. While the other members of the crew with Rudy get away, in his attempt to escape he falls into a vat of mutagen that turns him into Parasite. Where Clark was more of the focus in the first film, Superman is the main character in the second film. But it's because he's weakened for the majority of the film. This is how we introduce Steel. Parasite starts working for Luthor to defeat Superman, and he almost does. In act 1, we meet John, a scientist in LexCorp, and we see his neighborhood. In act 2 John is in his workshop when Superman comes crashing into his neighborhood. Seeing the fight, he runs into the other room. Outside, Superman is getting wrecked by a super powered Parasite who keeps feeding on Superman powers every time he grabs him to hit him. Steel arrives and saves Superman by knocking out Parasite with his hammer and flying away with Superman. They finally get to a safe house and John Irons revives Superman with a solar power generator. The two team up in the final act and defeat Parasite and Lex. The movie ends with Clark proposing to Lois in the middle of the office at the Daily Planet. The trilogy ends with Lois and Clark getting married. While on their honeymoon, Luthor escaped from prison and is on the run following the events of the previous justice league movie: Justice League: Brainiac. After the defeat of Brainiac, Bruce Wayne orchestrated the cleanup alongside LexCorp. Lex breaks out of prison and finds the Brainiac parts, while meeting and convincing a heartbroken and depressed John Corbin to become Metallo. Corbin, motivated by revenge against Superman because of his sister's death undergoes the transformation into Metallo and Lex uses the Brainiac parts to create his mech suit. Also, this is where we introduce Connor aka Superboy. He starts off as a villain, because he's manipulated by Lex at first, but with Superman and Steel working together, they turn Superboy into an ally by the end of the second act. Superman, Superboy and Steel eventually beat Metallo and Luthor, but Brainiac takes over Luthor before the cops can take him back to prison and he escapes again. John Corbin also escapes, but he's hunting Luthor to kill him. In a post credits scene, we're in a mountain range and as the camera zooms in we hear an agonizing screaming of a man being tortured. As we enter the cave, the screaming slowly dies and we hear a monologue but in two overlapping voices. As a figure steps into the light, we see a metallic Lex Luthor

going on your first paragraph idea, what would be very interesting is a clark kent in modern times, who would have a ALOT to say about the US military industrial complex and the constant wars it starts and the immoral factions it funds. clark kent would be writing expose after expose, and end up a Tucker carlsen-like pariah ridiculed by the bobbleheed warmongersin the mainstream news. One thing is for sure, you can no longer make a superman movie set in modern times, as the US military empire has simply gone too far, that Superman would be AGAINST the US government.

Ever since reading the first comic book appearance of Brainiac it has been my hope that THAT becomes a movie someday. Introduces an iconic villain, has plenty of scenes between Clark and Lois, but most importantly it also introduces KANDOR, a Kryptonian city Brainiac keeps miniturized in a glass container. And it has other Kryptonians inside, including one who KNOWS JOR EL, Supermans biological father! Like, holy crap. This story contains so much great opportunity for character development for superman! For the first time ever he could finally talk to another member of his race, one who knew his father! He doesnt have to rely on the holographic computer Jor El in the fortress of splitude, he KNOWS A GUY NOW. At the end of the comic Superman has to choose between saving Metropolis and Kandor. An Impossible decision to be sure. So the decision is made FOR him when the Kryptonians in Kandor chose to save the humans of Metropolis. They say "earth is your home now, Kal El. Krypton has had its time", so since then Superman has worked hard to try and save Kandor and bring it back to normal size. Its a damn good story and I think it could easily fit inside one movies worth of time. Two hours at most.

I would have Kalibak be the first villain. The outcast son of Apokolips vs The beloved son of Metropolis. From the start, Superman is beloved by all. He's saving people, animals and keeping the city safe. When he hears someone crying on top of an old building. He sees a man that's about to commit suicide. And he talks to him. Telling him that if he jumps he will always catch him. And that he's never alone. He knows how it feels to be an outcast. But it won't be that way for long. While in Apokolips we see Kalibak being treated like a joke. Even by his own father. Kalibak over hears Darkseid wanting to take over earth but Superman is always thwarting his plans. So Kalibak takes it upon himself to bring the head of The Man of Steel. In the 3rd act, Kalibak and Superman fight. Superman is close to being broken. Due to him holding back for the sake of the children watching him. He does not want to break his rule. And be a role model even if it kills him. As Kalibak is beating down Superman. He cries out in frustration. About how he's been treated. And he will no longer be alone. He will be acknowledged by his world. That's when Superman blocks Kalibaks punches. And he hugs him. Superman says almost the same thing as he did before to the suicidal man from the ledge. Tells Kalibak he knows what it's like to be an outcast. But if he accepts it. There'll always be a shoulder for him to lean on. An ear that will listen. A friend that'll be there for him. That's when Darkseid's boomtube sucks Kalibak back to Apokolips. Darkseid is again disappointed by his son. But Kalibak seems to have a new lease in life. Superman II: The Legacy Continues Darkseid is able to intercept a Kryptonian ship that has the last reminence of it's world. Darkseid makes a deal with General Zod. Earth would be turned into new Krypton and be given to Zod. If Zod can bring Superman's head to Darkseid. Zod turns on Brainiac. To help him suit up to take down Superman. Superman is so powerful at this point. Zod cannot take him down. Zod resorts to unearthing Krypton's long forgotten weapon. Doomsday. In the end of the 2nd act, Doomsday kills Superman. But is so out of control. No one can take him down. Zod sees this and tries to control Doomsday to no avail. Zod takes away Kal-El back to his ship. And he builds the fortress of Solitude. A remote area that no one can track. Zod nurses Kal-El back to health. Zod tells the story of how he saw Kal-El grow up. And how close he was to his father. And he was framed and put in the phantom zone. Just because he was the one that stood up against the council. And told them years before their planet was close to extinction. But no one listened. Both men suit up and go back to Metropolis to take down Doomsday. It's been 3 months since The Doomsday takeover. Metropolis is a bordered off wasteland. And is the nuclear home of Doomsday. After a massive fight. Zod sacrifices himself just for Superman to get one lucky shot to break Doomsday's jaw. Superman and Zod carry Doomsday into space and crash land back to finish off the death machine. Zod cannot recover due to Kryptonite spikes that he got impaled with by Doomsday. Zod says this is better soil to die on. He sees now this is a better Krypton. Hope lives. "Don't ever lose hope Kal". Darkseid and his men are able to hack into Zod's ship. Brainiac speaks to them. And is revealed to be the reason for Krypton's extinction. Brainiac promises to give Darkseid the secrets he seeks. Mainly "The Anti life equation". In return. Brainiac wants Earth. Superman III: Legacy Evolution Jonathan Kent dies. Kal El stops being Clark Kent. And is taking care of his mom on the farm. He's still saving people. But he stopped being a reporter. One night, a Kryptonian ship crash lands onto the farm. A young Kryptonian who was supposed to escort Kal-El to earth. Is 30 years too late. But she hasn't aged a day. Kara is Kal-El's cousin. The first act would be them getting to know each other. Jimmy(whose still pleading for Clark to return to reporting) has a crush on Kara. Darkseid has a bounty on Superman's head. That he sends across the universe. Lobo, Mongul, Chemo, Parasite, SInestro. Superman gets the help of Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter to fight of the villains. While, still training Kara to become Supergirl. The ending would be Darkseid finally getting The Anti-Life Equation and going back to Apokolips. He kills Hal Jordan's Green Lantern before leaving. The ring goes to a mechanic named John Stewart. As the world mournes the loss of a hero. This would lead to JUSTICE LEAGUE: New Gods. Where Darkseid in his full power invades Earth. Justice League vs Apokolips. During all of this Lex Luthor is in the background. In news and building more and more empires. Hospitals and charity events. Really building the image that he might be a good guy afterall. Only to realise in phase 2. He's building his own Justice League.

Lois finding out superman identity should only take place during the third movie, not only to maintain the tension of the secret identity but also give her time to figure out what real love it without knowing that clark is superman. Gunn has a difficult task when it comes to "rebooting" superman.

Superman is benevolent, even when tested. He would always try to find another way, even as a younger and inexperienced Superman. Have him compassion his way to victory as a payoff to all of the character building in the movie.

@@some_schmuck Here are your own words: "Climax ends with Superman using his freeze breath on Parasite. He had no choice. Not being able to find a solution, forced to go against every fiber of his being... until he realizes the frozen parts of the parasite have died. They got too cold; they froze over." I don't believe this misquotes you. He doesn't kill The Parasite in the end (and I didn't indicate that he did, merely that he felt he had no choice), but you indicate that Superman uses his freeze breath against The Parasite "going against every fiber of his being" and after "not being able to find a solution" and indicate that Superman didn't know this would only freeze the parasite aspect of The Parasite. How was Superman "going against every fiber of his being"? If he was just trying to subdue The Parasite, that's in line with his philosophy. If, however, Superman was trying to do something he knew to be morally wrong, that strongly suggests that he felt he had to seriously hurt or even kill The Parasite. Instead of a "don't comment on a video if you don't know what happens in it" kind of response, which is a very strong reaction, I'd ask that you reflect on if something you're trying to communicate is unclear or otherwise not coming across the way you intend it. I understand the impulse to defend one's work, certainly a lot of thought and effort went into this video and I appreciate that. How might you rewrite that part of the script to not indicate that Superman felt he had no choice but to cross a core moral boundary?

  • @some_schmuck

I wouldn't. It does go against every fiber of his being to freeze parasite because he doesn't know how it would effect Rudy on the inside. So he's emotionally wrecked for a moment. But then he begins to see the parasite itself is dying and decided to break the ice as fast as he can and saves Rudy. Parasite is a being that literally has no thoughts besides devouring energy.

That makes it clear that Superman knows he could seriously hurt or kill Rudy with his freezing gambit. I don't understand what you're trying to argue exactly. Yes, Superman thinks him freezing Parasite can possibly kill Rudy and he takes the chance to stop Parasite. He then realized it may not have killed Rudy and instantly saved him... He's crossing his moral boundary in order to save thousands of people but instantly regrets his choice. There's nothing else I can do after the fact to change it, and tbh I like the way it is now.

I replied saying that I don't see a problem with the race swapping since how the character is being played is more important than the color of the actor's skin. I think there are a lot of White, Asian, or Hispanic actors that can play Lex really well. But for my story, and how Lex in the film would be portrayed, Sterling K. Brown was the best choice. @@some_schmuck In theory, race or gender shouldn’t matter when hiring for a job. But acting is strange, since it does for some roles. Like casting a black Hal Jordan would make it feel like a totally different character. That’s why new characters are created who can add diversity. John Stewart is a lot of people’s favorite Green Lantern. And I’m sure they wouldn’t be happy if a non-black actor was cast for the role. When it comes to these iconic characters, the actor should really look like the source material character. I’m okay with race and some gender swapping when it’s a minor character. And that’s not to say diverse actors should be limited to minor roles, but that new roles should be created for them or they can elevate those minor characters into big ones

It was his first day on the job and he had to figure out how to stop an alien army from his home planet all while trying to get the hang of his powers!!!
