I saw Terry Reid at the Baltimore Civic Center opening for Cream in the late 60s. I was 13 and I still remember how fantastic he was.

He knew everybody & everybody knew him. His memoir would be astounding.

I stumbled on this guy today at 48 year-old. Mind blown going through his albums all day.

All I've got to say is it's not too late for Page & Reid to make music together.

@@marvinm.messier1120 Plant has been the busiest person since the split. Page has been the one promising a tour forever, but is still to fixated on Zeppelin and promoting their work.

I have listened to 'Dean' every single day for the last 25 years, since I discovered Terry Reid. He blew me away then, when I first heard that insane singing voice, the rhythm, the phrasing, the timing, the blues and the soul and he still blows me away every day. I'm just thankful for his talent and his gift to us all.

Terry was an old-fashioned troubadour and not a so-called star - One feels that is all he wanted to be. Maybe his time is still to come though: we still have his back-catalogue of course, and he was genuinely a good-looking guy sprinkled with stardust, once seen never forgotten. Timeless. Even the Greats thought he was great.

Thanks Internet, this guy makes real music, heart and soul, good feeling, real life.

Yesterday's gone, never to return. TR looks happy with his life, he saw/dd things we dream of, and was successful playing music and still does. Huge success is not for everybody! Not being successful, probably saved my life.

He has been my favorite rock ‘n’ roll singer for 50 years....!!!!!

He made it in all our lives who ever bought his albums!

Saw Terry playing in a little dive on NY's upper west side, 1970. He was all the light, all the energy that the room needed, so brilliant was his presence and talent. Still have his albums. Still think it's a crying shame he never got the recognition he deserved.

Terry Reid and Richard Manual, along with Phil Lynott, in my opinion are the most underated, underappreciated and lesser known talents that rock and roll, soul and rhythm and blues ever produced to the musical public in my opinion. Some would say that these people get their just desserts. I say that they're a lot of people that might know one particular song from the 3 singers , above mentioned by myself, but that's it. Might know one song but nothing else on the other material or the name of the singer until mentioned and if lucky the person says, I think I recognize the name. What else does he sing. Radio if lucky only plays the standart biggiehit and maybe a second song that barely cracked the top 40. There is a treasure trove of music these 3 singers sing that the majority of the rocking roll public are not aware of. Thankfully 20 yeats after certain songs were released and barely received any radio airplay, certain hip directors trying to be original and fresh and appreciative of the material put these songs in their respective movies and gets reintroduced to a younger audience and probably gets it's just due 20 years too late for the current bill board charts, and a little bit of money in the pocket for these 3 legends in my opinion. But at least people are discovering these songs. Better late than never. Music has always had these types of performers all the way through history. From 40s big band to early 50s white bread suburbian pop to rocking roll and 20s and 1930s blues and so forth. Any way Rock on, and God Bless!!!

Richard Manuel was the heart beat of the Band!!! But I still think the majority of people know the radio played stadards and out of the 3 singers I mentioned in my first comment Richard is the most heard on the radio a lot more, still recognized as a voice compared to Terry Reid and Philip Lynott who are unknown legends for different reasons they brought to the many compositions they created that entered through our ears and set up shop in our Hearts and Minds. Richards sols work was impressive to me in a gentle fragile heartfelt way. Phil Lynotts autobiographical poetry is up there with Dylan Springsteen and Lennon as a writer and on stage he was a RockStar as captivating as Elvis, Phils idol, and Freddie Mecury, with the onstage swagger as Keith Richards and the looks of a just as flashy dressed, as a a young Jimi Hendrix in his prime, his first coming which ran from October 1966 to Dec 1967. And Terry Reid is a jazzy refuse to reform to the hit machine and it's rules on how to make a hitsong, thsnk you very much lol. Plus the soul that spontaneously spews out of his mouth is fantastic and different and yes i know Robert Plant sounds like Terry when he needed to go primal in any of Zeppelin's songs. But there is much more to Terry than that fact along with that he was asked to join Zeppelin, blah blah. It didn't happen and that never effected my admiration for this man. Keep in mind, the comparisons to Plants voice and Terry's ends with the Plant goto phrase ooooooohhhhhhh, baby baaaaabbbaaa. We all knew Plant was a white guy from England We thought Terry was this new Black, soul singer who holds me to what he can create that is fresh funky jazzy and soul doctor with a bit of folk and can rock out with the best of them. Are you sure he's a white boy from England lol. Next thing you'll be telling me is Van Morrison is a white chubby guy from Ireland and George Michael is also a white guy from England that grew up in Greece lol. All above mentioned whether it's your type of music or not Terry Reid Van Morrison and George Michael are to me the male Diva's of popular music and maybe it's just me but all 3 sound like they could be black. To me that's the highest compliment as singer to be called bBlack because of your singing and voice. That's when you made it. Im just saying if a white singer male or female gets that comparison it means you're on the mount Rushmore of music. Any kind of genre. Soul RnB, Rocking Roll Pop, Country folk, Blues, Jazz, Dixie land, bluegrass, Gospel. All those above mentioned singers are capable of that. Oh I almost forgot the King Elvis, another one. The Black voice is king and as a white singer if you get this comparison. You've Arrived. Just thinking out loud and giving props on what I believe and love about the artists I have mentioned above. Rock on Terry Reid who is still alive and was playing sporadically before coivid. Taj Mahal is still alive and sporadically tours. Another living legend to me. Check out his live album Taj Mahal live at Fillmore East, 1970. Truly amazing flowing awesome piece of history and one of my favorite live albums. Love Live and Dangerous live ThinLizzy. Live at the Rainbow in LA with a sprinkle of songs from Toronto and Sanfran Cisco as well. Cheers, white boy out.

I agree. But I think Terry is comfortable where he's at musically. Some of the best songwriters, musicians that I have seen are the ones who don't need the spotlight. They are happy in their own skin, and where they are at with their craft. Still, he's up there in my top five as far as singers go.

I've only recently "discovered" Terry Reid. Exceptional presence and guts, and ahead of the times for the funk/rock thing. Songs and ideas outlast the hype.

Saw TR at the Royal Albert Hall in '69 running an organ trio and playing the first harp guitar I ever saw. I can't even recall who he was on with, he was that good. Saw him again a couple of years ago at the Jack Bruce tribute show at the Shepherds Bush Empire. He was still that good

I don’t remember how I heard about Terry but I bought Superlungs and Bang Bang long ago and was an immediate fan. Never got to see him but what a talent. Thanks Terry.

I think the reverse is true Mickie Most. Without musicians like Terry Reid, there is no point in people like you. In fact, if the suits disappeared tomorrow we'd still have people playing music.

terry always takes the time to speak to his fans after a show and that goes along way i have had a few long conversations with terry and he signed my vinyl top man

Wow! In 1970, the same period of time I bought Grahm Nash' brilliant first solo album Songs for Beginners, I bought Terry Reids album. He is genius; Rich Kid's Blues, Friends..and I only think about those two songs once a decade; the record is long gone from my collection. But, thanks! annot wait to see this full documentary!

First LP I bought was his...a cheapo on Music for Pleasure edition...Timeless....especially his version of Stay with me!

One of the consolations is he got David Lindley in one of his bands back in the 1970's.

In addition to his talent, he was also easy on the eyes, if you get my drift. Very good looking indeed!

Amazing to think if it hasn't been for Rob Zombie and Devils Rejects I never would've known who this guy was, and I grew up in the 70s. I heard "To be treated rite" backed up the DVD, and listened 4 times! WHO THE HELL is that dude and why isn't every album he ever made in my CD collection. Amazing song...

+pedroV2003 Pedro, we may have been at the same show if you're referring to the Madison Square Garden show which Cream headlined. Buddy Miles band opened, then Terry Reid, then Cream. Cream was presented with their gold or platinum award for "Wheels of Fire" that night, with producer Felix Pappalardi accepting it.

I think comparing a Plant Zep with a Reid Zep only on vocals discounts Robert's huge contribution as a lyricist. Without Plant you don't have Zeppelin as we know it at all, not to say a Reid Zep wouldn't or couldn't also be great but it would have been very different.

It must be time for the Terry Reid collection album? What an amazing back catalogue to choose from. With some decent support / marketing imagine how many more people could discover his music.

Why he is not more well known is a mystery. I have 3 of his albums which are excellent and getting harder to find.

Terry is the best hands down

He’s got that quality in his voice similar to Robert Plant and Steve Marriot. Few could sing like him. Great singer. Terry Reid opened for the Rolling Stones in ‘69 and ‘70 US tour.

I'll explain to you all:TR has never made something for everybody, what they call nowadays a pleaser and his judgement has always been different and right about many things, for example :he sang better, played better than RP or JP. He must have felt that. He didn't steal anything(JP stole anything) and invented new styles in music(northern soul with peter jay, freaked out hard rock with keith webb and Pete Solleyin a trio, very disciplined funky hard rock with lee miles, the river album aso. Maybe he understood on a very young age the price you have to pay for commercial fame, but then again if you are so talented and nothing happens with your talents, only the happy few enjoy it, then you also pay a price. I can say this because my talents, in a completely different world, have until now, hardly been used, but before I burie them, I will show them for the last time to, I hope, to the right people, and I'm really busy doing so. My hope for Terry is, that he will stay in good shape!!!!

@Zami Adams I'm not sure why you think this short clip is either amazing or a documentary. This is ALL there is: just a short trailer for a documentary that was never made. As I recall, a Go Fund Me account was created in order to get money needed to make this film, then Terry abruptly pulled the plug on the project. I remember speaking with the young man-who would have served as the film's director/producer-about why his project was terminated, and he told me it was because Terry felt that the documentary focused too much on Led Zeppelin, so Terry backed out. It's been my greatest wish to see a documentary made on Terry Reid, if not by the man who created this clip, then someone else who Terry trusts.

Parlour Band and/or O Band supported Terry Reid at Leicester Poly, fantastic evening, got both bands stoned, before and after, gig will always live with me - and whow, the bass playing, what a guy, thump rythmical thump

He can still go zero to 60 in an instant...I'll never be less than amazed.

Awesome talent.

He was heard of by us who knew and know true musician's/artists. Robert Plant was never why I listened to Led Zeppelin but Terry had the voice and unique guitar style up there with the top 10 according to the status quo!

I read that it was discovered that the documentary maker wanted to take the film in the 'led zeppelin direction' and was more interested in Robert than Terry himself, so Terry put an end to it

It has been said that the documentary maker was using Terry to get up close and personal with Plant and essentially wanted to make this documentary a Led Zeppelin story. That being said, when asked about it in a recent interview, Terry said he wants to make a book instead of doing a documentary, and noted that the documentary maker was not making Terry the focus of the documentary. So perhaps the rumours of Terry deciding not to do it anymore are true.

Where can one see this full documentary??? Was it actually released? All links seem to be similar articles about the Doco itself but no full documentary to be found. Maybe production faltered???!!

Got to hand it to Robert Plant here - if you think about it - he had what Terry had in spades - not just a voice, he could write damned good songs. Just look at what Zeppelin was. A lot of humility for him to appear in in this doc - but let's not forget why Zeppelin made it - it wasn't going to work as just Page, Bonham and Jones alone. Terry fronting LZ might've flopped - with Plant - what a smash success.

Seen his albums always in the used records section, only one couldn't muster up the $2.00 dollars to take a chance for disappointment on a teenager's budget...instead opted out on TEN YEARS AFTER

I learned something new. I had never heard of him but now I feel a bit more enlightened for having learned about him.

Sorry you never got you chance terry. Its sad to say your time has most likely come and gone. I hope you prove me wrong. Regardless your music, lyrics, voice are by far not comparable. No one can hold a candle to terry reid of the 70s. Being a blue collar man i wish you the best. I hope you get your time!!

Jimmy Page has been tortured for years by Robert Plant refusing to tread old ground and reform, so why on earth doesn't Terry join up with Jimmy now? (He is six years younger than Jimmy!)

Why has this documentary not been made??

Why are their only a few of Terry's tracks I can find more on other channels and this is the official Terry Reid?? You should put more of his music on here!!! 😒

It didn't get past the trailer. I believe whoever produced Waddy Wachtel's (Terry's L.A. guitar player) 'king of the sidemen' documentary, or Denny Tedesco, who made 'the wrecking crew' documentary, would have been a better choice, and there might be a completed documentary.

Between Terry Reid and Steve Marriott, I think there was a certain kind of British "rasp" that Jimmy Page was seeking for the "new" Yardbirds to compete with Rod Stewart in the Jeff Beck Group, and Robert Plant ended up being a slightly "out of the box" choice for that kind of a singer. Not quite as raspy, but with a little more range and soul

I read that Peter Grant bumped into Terry Reid in 1975, & Terry said to him "was it?", & Peter said yes, Reid had a gr8 voice, but Plant,s was better.

Sounds a lot like John Fogerty.
