Supercross Classics 1984 - Seattle

Спорт

Before Carmichael and McGrath, there were the supercross legends of the past: Bob Hannah, Johnny O'Mara, Mike Bell, David Bailey, Ricky Johnson, Jeff Ward, Ron Lechien, Jeff Stanton and more. Now is your chance to catch a rare glimpse of how, over twenty years ago, these hisotric riders battled on the racetracks of yesterday to pioneer the sport of supercross and turn it into one of the most popular motor sports in the world today.

Went, still have the ticket stub. 2 stroke exhaust hung heavy in the Kingdome that weekend!

I wonder how the four bangers would fare on a track layout from these days?

Ward was a real talent, but as far as likability was concerned had something to be desired..Hannah, O'Mara, Bailey were not as consistent, but Gods amongst the masses..

Greg Maggio Ward seemed to suffer from typical "little man" syndrome, he surely was a cocky little bastard. Of course, Hannah is cocky too but also has the ability to laugh at himself and not take himself quite so seriously, makes all the difference

Wardy wins his first SX main, and pops a bottle of campaign. Traditional celebration is not allowed anymore. :(

I am honored that only my comment was spared from the "you-tube comment holocaust" across this great land. Thank you oh great gooooogal, --for sparing my digital, meaningless life. I owe it all---to you.

Never liked Ward. Its funny today how Jeff Ward moto memorabilia is worth so much less than other riders like RJ, Hannah, and Omara.

reemo I've been watching these '80's super cross races for the past couple of weeks and noticed an event that summed up the difference between Ward and these other guys. In one event- I forget which one- Ward gets tangled up with another rider and goes down. Nothing purposeful and no ones fault, simply an accident, and Ward just walks off the track and quits. He's not hurt, the bike's not hurt, he simply gave up. About a lap later I guess his team manager and mechanic must have talked some sense into him and he got back out there, but it shows the attitude of the guy. In contrast, how many times have you seen Hannah, Glover, RJ, etc crash and jump right back up and work their way back up through the pack, that takes real heart
