Supercharged SBC Refresh *Fixing the biggest issue*

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A Supercharged 383 Stroker and the biggest problem that plagued this combo for 6+ years! I show why a single carb/throttle body on a 671 did not work out for me and what I'm doing to fix it.

    Yeah it came with the scoop, but I will admit it does look sweet seeing the lines with the hood closed

    I've been fighting a similar issue with my setup. A 142 on a 327 SBC with throttle body on top. I don't have EGO in each header, so I can't confirm I'm having a distribution issue (probably am), but what I'm fighting is a lean / rich condition under acceleration. With a manual transmission, I've tuned my VE table for 4th gear, and in steady state driving (i.e.: no accel or decel), AFR is very stable at just about every RPM range. But under any type of Acceleration, I can't get the right amount of fuel and it goes rich or lean. I use my EGO control to compensation, but I hate seeing the swings....especially down to 10 AFR or as high as 19 AFR. It's "better" now that I've switched to E85...probably because E85 requires so much more volume and evaporates faster than gasoline. But still getting those annoying AFR swings under Accel or shifting into 5th gear (more load).

    Okay., so if you are running nozzles into the side of the blower, WHY can't you just run an Enderle hat without the barrel valve and put a TPS sensor in it's place?

    He wants the scoop he currently has, the hoods cut for it, its wrapped black and he loves the look. Plus the throttle body has the IAC, tps and IAT already setup to work with the terminator efi

    you need a plate under the blower for the fuel almost like the vortec fuel injection. or spin the blower around and mount it backwards but would be pretty tough to run the belt. youd either have to do what the did on the 3400v6 and run a shaft to spin the blower. then again maybe turning those dummy lines into real lines would be the ticket. just some thoughts cause thats a pretty big problem. its gonna eat those rear pistons pretty quick with no fuel and destroy the bores on the front ones when all the fuel washes out the crosshatch. plus the excess fuel will work its way into the oil pan due to blowby and the bearings will be pretty toast. tell the guy to return his setup and be a man and order electric turbos. now hear me out ok. no oil lines required. no exhaust required. when the system is off its a normal n/a healthy motor. but when your ready to have fun most of the systems can run up to 30 seconds at a time. yeah not much but who holds an old motor open that long and expects it to hold together. with those spinny bois 1/4 mile could be in the 10's even with a heavy car. thats 3 solid runs and you dont pay anything to use them. its just like nitrous. but instead of filling the bottle and paying too much money for fun. you just drive the damn thing or let it run for a few till its charged. on the street its the perfect combo. good mileage and someone wants to run and you have 3 smack downs and are charged before the next one. it doesnt take long with good electrical its my big next plans for that blazer you seen before. if this motor lets go 383 stroker. and when i get the electric turbos ill just ride it till it dies. ill have the 6 speed swapped in it by then and be pretty bullet proof. i still need to order stuff from you and i promise i havent forgotten but life came up and im trying to work and start up a venture with a friend so we can work for ourselves instead of put money in someone elses pocket all day.

    Not sure if electric turbos are for this guy but I think the new supercharger should take care of all the distribution issues

    Weiand is pronounced "Why-and" not "Wee-and". When I was a little kid they had promotional hats that had the correct pronunciation on them because it was so widely mispronounced.

    @@cuttersperformance Back in the day, all their ads had "Say Why-And" because it was usually pronounced incorrectly. No biggie, I'm just a Spelling Freak! BTW, I have a friend with Model A running a 4-71 with a single carb, and it runs great--I've gone on 300 mile round trips to Famoso in it. Maybe the shorter blower isn't so finnicky?

  • @cuttersperformance

    @cuttersperformance

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah the shorter blowers seem to be better, and also if you take a look at the smaller blowers (177/144) the carb is actually offset to the back to try to compensate for the rotors throwing the fuel to the front

  • @CarsandCats

    @CarsandCats

    @@cuttersperformance It's not that the blowers are shorter, it's that they have straight cut rotors rather than helix. Straight rotors don't push the fuel forwards so you don't have to run a setback plate.
