Supercharged FJ Cruisers - Part 2 - Racing FJ Cruisers!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey there everyone! Welcome to another episode of LET'S FJ! This week we once again talk about supercharging FJ Cruisers, but in this video we actually compare my 2008 Trail Teams Special Edition FJ Cruiser to a buddy's 2008 supercharged FJ Cruiser!
He specifically has the TRD supercharger and not only do we discuss the supercharger along with its pros and cons, but we also put the FJs head-to-head to see which is faster! Can you guess who will win??
Thanks for watching this episode and here is a link to the Part 1 Supercharger video I mention here: • FJ Cruiser Supercharge...
Check out more of my videos for FJ Cruiser related content and check out my FJX2000 Instagram if you want to follow me and my FJ's build!
Best wishes and keep on FJ Cruising!

Super cool and great presentation! When I drove through i70 over the rockies, I genuinely thought something is wrong with my FJ and expected a check engine light to come on anytime. I knew the high elevation will have this effect, but didn't expect to be this severe! A super charger would've been nice.

Great video! I have a 2007 FJ 4x4 bought new. Always love the vehicle but like most just needed a little bit more power. Added a Magnuson supercharger with inter cooler and Bullydog tuner at 116000 miles and at 146000. Wirth it to me by far and adds a new level of fun!

Instead of the Trd exhaust, I run a single Flowmaster dual chamber with single 3 inch exhaust, sounds much deeper and a little louder than the TRD exhaust great videos I’ve owned my 2007 FJ since 2010 has 225,000 miles other than maintenance items and running full synthetic lubrication in all the components I have never replaced so much as a bearing or sensor in over 200,000 miles. I have two other Toyotas in the FJ is hands-down, the most durable and lowest maintenance vehicle I have ever owned and it works every day pulling trailers and other trucks that gets stuck in the sand on the beach even living on the coast and it being in the sand. I keep it clean and it is rust. The clearcoat faded a little, but steel looks great I did also upgrade my brakes with all drilled and slotted rotors and cmax pads made a huge difference in stopping power. Keep up the great radios.

Thank you for covering the fuel economy topic I was really looking forward to that! Now I got some suggestions for next videos since you’re going all out, might as well cover this topic with all angles: Supercharger FJ vid 3: Your 2008 FJ vs 2010+ supercharged FJ (since they had about 20hp more over the stock 2008 models and the superchargers got more out of them). Supercharger FJ vid 4: Your 2008 FJ vs 2010+ supercharged 6spd FJ (same reasons as above but adding manual transmission into the mix). Thanks for all your effort, this is the best FJ channel on KZread hands down.

Great videos! Makes me think of some of your blue room write ups (assuming you are the same FJX2000 😉) I have a 2012 with the URD whipple S/C, 4.88 gears, headers and exhaust, intake and custom snorkel (bigger to eliminate restrictions) and on 37s. I will say I noticed a big difference crawling off-road as the torque is immediately there, very similar to a re-gear when I was on 35s with out the S/C. If you are in Colorado it would be fun to line all 3 up (yours, TRD/magnuson S/C, and mine). Also I am getting around 12-13MPG on the dash, which when you factor the tire size (or use GPS to track) is actually in the 15-16MPG range (as long as you are driving conservative lol. Keep it up with the great videos!👍

Hi,Great Video,I purhased my 2007 FJ, 3 years ago ,with 235k on it,i have done the frame over ,installed new upper and lower control arms, new suspension, radiator, starter, alt, all new hoses, pulleys, hoses from power steering, pretty much went thru it as the prevoius owner lived on an island off of Newport Rhode Island. He told me the milage was high,do to daily drive from Newport to Boston,so mostly highway miles, never went off Road,But the salt did a job ,on alot of surface{,Rust}...Was able to grind it off at places i needed, applied rust restorer, then painted with por 15,then aplied fluid film...My brother and i ,have made it work,as i am 70 years old.We have a rented garage with a lift, which really helps.ANYHOW!!! My question is i found a TRD Intake on ebay, that fits my 2007,however,the two rubber red couplings were falling apart,my buddy works for a Toyota Dealer,in parts dept. The TRD kit for that year has been discontinued,so i opted to buy the new kit.I was able to make it fit,as it was a little different,my question is i keep getting a 2 lean codes Bank 1 and bank 2,I have a Scan Gage 3,installed,sittig on dash, where courtesy box is,so i have been able to delete codes {P0171-P0174},then they come back,daily...i;m thinking i want to put the old CAI back on,Do you have any suggestions...I would really appreciate it...Thanks again for all you do for us FJ Guys & Girls....

I have a performance air filter, but I think that because it s 6 speeds manual, it s a bit faster on starts than maybe both of those. I never clocked my 0 - 60, but I get there pretty quickly. it s a 2007, so it s not the engine, it s the transmission. it s a bit of a downer to see that the charger does nt even add 100 hp... Superchargers on the FJ help it being a better highway driver. It especially helps when you’re going up mountains and want to pass cars. It also compensated for the added weight if you build your FJ out. It’s just a slow truck that moves a little less slow. This plus some gears is a good combo. I’m currently having the gears done on my 08 and plan on supercharging it later this year. I want it to match my Alfa Romeo 4C in the sense that it has forced induction lol.

I think it would just be cheaper to LS swap it rather than supercharging. 400hp from a bone stock 6 litre.

@@FJX2000_Productions Magnusson designed this supercharger setup for Toyota. They still sell it on their website for 6100 but without the TRD labeling. It’s plug and play and comes with all the parts needed for the install. It also includes a proper tune for the ECU. 🙂

The elevation is a big drawback for the non supercharged engine. At sea level the difference I bet is lesser.
