naijaflavor60 it’s a sleeper considering people expect to run into a car that runs low 14s to high 13s with a good driver. When in reality it has a super charger and should be deep 12s

Good alternative for people who can't afford a newer stang. You can pick one of these up with decent mileage and condition for like $9,000-$15,000 and a good supercharger is only about $5,000 all said and done. Good job David!

Say whatever you like about this car, but its the reason that there is a Camaro and a Challenger again. After 2002, other than the Terminator, the American Muscle/Pony car scene didn't have much to offer. The S197 reopened the market. Made everybody step their game up. Just like the original. It's great to be an American car guy today, we are in a great era.

Richard Lacourse the Terminator is a great car but it didn’t start the horsepower wars. It’s pretty much universally accepted that the S197’s sales numbers triggered Chevrolet and Dodge to jump back in the game at all, Then GT500 was answered initially by the limited SRT Challenger and it took Camaro a couple more years to bring out the ZL1. The Terminator had nothing to do with any of that. Still a good car though.

I've got to say, after owning a 4.6 s197 for 9 years. (2006 White GT Premium Manual, and my current car 2008 Bullitt), They're not that bad. For what it is, the 4.6L 3V is solid. It's not impossible to drive hard around corners, the power isn't bad, and it's not a dog. The engine responds to mods well, and they're not as heavy as 5.0's. They're user friendly and solid. Not saying the improvements made to the 5.0's are nominal or worthless. They're not, but the S197 4.6's are not bad cars, hard to drive, or Dogs by any means. It's still a driver's car. I'm looking to get a 5.0 next year, but I'm keeping my Bullitt and planning to keep modding it.

Having owned both a 3 valve and Coyote Mustang, It's hard for me to say ones 'better' than the other. The Coyote definitely has more potential overall and is stronger out of the box,.. but I've seen modded 3 valves making 350 n/a horsepower and 1500+ hp on boost. (Built of course) I say this subjectively but I think I even prefer the sound of the 3 valve over the Coyote. If you have a 3 valve and love the genre? you are not hurting. Love the Coyote though too so.. well... choices! I'll shut up now. :)

Not a big 05-09 guy but I love the 10-14(especially the 13/14) and the interior is part of what makes the car for me. It's cheap like a classic. There's absolutely no need for a fancy interior, I'd be happy with sheet metal for that matter. The s550 has nothing for me except for a little more power stock and auto rev match.

I can't imagine the first gen s197 handling characteristics being that bad. Granted, I've had one for seven years so it's all I've known for a while. But with Whiteline ball joints, panhard bar with poly bushings, and everything else mentioned in the video, I've never had complaints about the car's handling.

Love my 05, with 63k on it. I haven't had to replace anything on it until now; it'll need a clutch this year. I'm going to upgrade it to a Spec stage 2 or 3 with a lightened flywheel. Since I gotta take the drive shaft out, parts of the exhaust, I'm just going to upgrade those as well. I'm ordering LT headers, H pipe, with high flow CATs carbon fiber shaft, and a tuner. I already have a throttle body and CAI, (that I have yet to install). Once the weather breaks, its gonna get done. That's how I roll with my S197.

I drove a 2005 S197 supercharged mustang that they claimed made 505hp... it had a Hurst Shifter and it felt AWESOME... but I just couldn't make my mind up on the car and by the time I wanted to get it was sold :( .. ended up getting a Type R Fk8... but someday imma get a Supercharged mustang... I don't know if I want the S197 though... I may need Independent Rear... so I would be looking into a Termi or a S550... but I don't want that crappy MT82... S197 maybe can be a good handler with extensive mods... maybe a Watts-link and a couple other things. The Hurst shifter was just awesome! Even driving the car for the first time impossible to miss a gear with that thing.
